The homepage of Houston based Meedio Software
proudly announced yesterday that the company has sold its technology to Yahoo! for an
undisclosed sum. Meedio has developed such products as Meedio TV, Meedio Essentials and a bundle of
products called Meedio Pro that the Meedio website reports "turns your existing PC into a
complete system for the home entertainment experience." The offerings get a thumbs up from the editors at
PC Mag and a review and some color can be found here.
The core Meedio
development team, including CEO David Brott, CTO Pablo Pissanetzky and senior developer Pedro Navarro, will join
the Yahoo! "Digital Home Team" as well and from the tone of the announcement, these guys are
thrilled.
Yahoo! has made a recent habit of gobbling up small,
privately-held companies with novel niche technologies, so it will be fascinating to see
how it incorporates these new products into a portal that continues to evolve into a multimedia
social experience. As well, it will be fascinating to observe how this acquisition affects competition with such
companies as TIVO and Microsoft who offer products competitive with Meedio's
offerings.
Congratulations Meedio-rites and best luck in your new digs!
