Google rumor mill: going national with wifi?

More

There are few things more fun than rumors and few topics more ripe for the mill than Google. So I can hardly resist passing this chestnut along and beg you take it with but a grain of the proverbial sea salt and a splash of your favorite spirit.

Speculation persists regarding Google's plans to broaden its WiFi strategy from covering the Bay area alone to the whole country. Barry Schwartz at Search Engine Watch brings it to my attention once again after I heard some obscure rumblings over the weekend. If you follow the link chain along to Barry's source, you'll take note of word of the bandwidth auctions planned for June as well as the ever increasing swell of cash Google sports.

Again, I stress that none of this confirmed in the least but you never know now do ya?
