New iMacs released by Apple

More

The rumormill got something right. Kind of. For the past week Apple sites have been buzzing about the imminent release of a new 23 inch iMac. They got the larger screen size right. The new 24 inch iMac was just announced today. Along with the announcement comes the note that the entire iMac line will feature a processor bump (to the Merom Intel chip -ed). Along with an unannounced Mac Mini bump to the Core Duo, all of them Apple's desktops will now use the Intel Core Duo chip which has been very well received in other Apple machines for its performance. The Core Duo chip packs two chips onto one chip, so you get multi-processor goodness in one package.

Of course this means Apple feels secure that its September 12th event will not be overshadowed by this news. Should make for a fun Tuesday next week.
