Gates tops Forbes' list of richest Americans... again

More

It really comes as no surprise to see that Microsoft Corporation (Nasdaq: MSFT) founder Bill Gates has once again topped the Forbes' list of the 400 richest Americans. After all, he has held onto to this coveted position for 13 years running now. Second place remains in the hands of Warren Buffett, who has sat in the number two slot since 1994 with the exception of 2000.

What is new this year is that all 400 members of the list have net worths in excess on $1 billion for the first time. Add them all together and you get a mighty impressive combined worth of $1.25 trillion! But even with so many billionaires on the list, don't start to think that Gates and Buffett were in any real danger of losing their prize positions... moving down the list to number three we find casino mogul Sheldon Adelson with a "mere" $20.5 Billion.

Other BloggingStocks favorites on the list consisted of Google founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page who came in 12th and 13th (after reportedly earning $13 million a day over the last two years), eBay's Pierre M. Omidyar pulled off 32nd, Apple Computer co-founder Steve Jobs in 49th position, Yahoo!'s David Filo at #117, and everyone's favorite, eBay's CEO Meg Whitman made her presence felt coming in at #322.
