The Physician's Committee for Responsible Medicine is suing a handful of fast-food restaurant chains that include Burger King Holdings, Inc (NYSE: BKC) and McDonald's Corporation (NYSE: MCD) for serving grilled chicken that they claim is carcinogenic. The PCRM is saying that chicken products from these chains were tested and found to test positive for certain carcinogenic compounds. The Center for Consumer Freedom begs to differ about the PCRM's claims and points out the PCRM is not a mainstream health organization, with one of PCRM's primary aims including making all Americans eat vegetarian. You can see PCRM's website dismissing animal protein as a viable food source here, and if you take the time to wander through the site, it's the only diet ever recommended, making the CCF's claim that the PCRM is a somewhat radicalized PETA/Animal rights group gone a bit far something to take seriously.
There's a further interesting note. The PCRM does not compare regularly grilled chicken from home (ie on your own BBQ grill) to the rates of carcinogens found in the fast food restaurant. It's not a secret that charred food contains a small number of carcinogens in it. PCRM does not say if fast food charring has more than a burnt piece of chicken you cooked yourself or not. PCRM is certainly trying to use scare tactics to alter American eating habits, and its being untruthful (or at least very disingenuous) in its presentation of the issue. A big problem for the fast food chains? No, your stock will probably not be affected by this bogus suit.
But I propose a test. Let's get Morgan Spurlock (of Supersize Me fame) to eat nothing but grilled chicken from fast food restaurants for a month and see how his health is affected...

It's time people quit picking on the tobacco users, carcinogens are everywhere, it's not just second hand smoke causing cancers! I live close to an airport and anyone can come see how black my white gutters are from the spent jet fuel! Not to mention the ommissions from all the cars and trucks in my neighborhood. We are all guilty of causing carcinogens not just a select few. If your so concerned about fresh air turn in your car keys and buy a bicycle! Then I will listen to you.

Everything you put in your mouth gives you cancer but that doesn't mean your going to die from that. To me you could eat the best kinds of foods and still not be healthy, so to me that's all BS. Also, take your vitamin's you'll have more of a healthy life, to me that's also BS. When its your time your going. You just never know when it's your time or not.

yeah, what the other person said about grilling and frying things is probably true: it's all carcinogenic somehow. i don't really believe disease is all in the genes, it's a combination of diet, lifestyle, genes, etc. also, there's a long argument over whether people are meant to eat meat [and folks, our teeth aren't the only part of the argument, they are like carnivornes but ironically, our intestines are short like herbivores, which i find kinda weird]. anyway, from the standpoint of everything i've read: a small amount of animal protein is probably meant to part of the human diet, but still mostly plant foods as the best for fighting diseases. just my two cents.

I worked for 3 yrs for a McDonald's and can tell you that everyone's body responds to foods in it's own unique way. Some people get fat on the food and others can selectively choose foods from there and lose weight! I know, I did it while working there! I once saw a slogan that said "eat responsibly" and I can't agree more. Take responsibility for what goes in your mouth and don't blame others all the time for the results [food poisoning and foreign objects excluded]. Americans need to grow up and stop running to Mama[the court system] every time they don't like what another American does or says! Ignore the ignorant!

I think a more worthwhile cause would be to go after the companies that spray pesticides all over our fruit and veges. Seems like that would cause more cancer than a few chicken boobies. Besides, animals are delicious.

while you may not care, for those of who do, it should be noted that both man abd animal were given ONLY plants to eat. eating meat was "tolerated" AFTER sin entered the world. but the world was created for both to eat plants only.

Some of these law suits are funny, such as the hot coffee suits or the chicken head suits. But I bet everyone now checks their coffee lid before leaving, and actually look at their Chicken Nuggets before stuffing them into their mouths. But the comments on, "you only live once, eat what you want", and because of our teeth, we are meant to eat meat. Come-on. We are very versatile animals and can live on a variety of foods. Cows, Goats and such cannot. Sure! Eat what you what in your own home.
What I understand these people are saying is: fast food people can sell us any food they wish, regardless of how it affects are health, too make a profit. Don't try and educate the people who buy those products, even though they can't even walk into the store to buy these products, but instead sit in their cars in the drive through instead. (at least make the walk into the store if your going to eat that stuff)
I'll listen to what every one says and make a decision on what to eat myself. I don't believe silencing people who want to tell me what it is that I'm actually eating is of any benefit to me. Tell me, then I’ll decide.
Yes I am a vegetarian that’s slips off the wagon from time to time. After a bout with cancer my Doctor suggested being a Vegetarian to help boost my immune system. Been 10 years now. I’m not a Vegetarian because I fear for Bambie’s life, or have nightmares of sad Cow eyes. The benefits of thinning these populations is another debate. Over this time I have lost my taste for Beef, and occasionally eat fish and Chicken even though it sits heavy on my stomach. I usually do this to avoid the long, drawn out, boring, debates with my meat eating friends.

To all you meat eaters out there? Why do you take such offense at infomation that may really be beneficial for you? I am medical personell and have worked in Endoscopy (a colonoscopy is a procedure that involves a lighted long scope being inserted thru the rectum all the way around the large intestine to the end (sigmoid). Invariably all the cancers we found in colons were in people who have eaten meat most of their lives. Usually the stool is black to dark brown in color and the person experiences frequent constipation.
Now, I would like to put forth a little challenge...all meat eaters quit eating any kind of meat for one month. If you don't feel less sluggish, if your bowels don't work better and within 24 hours and everyday, and if your stools are not yellow to very light brown in color and if your joints don't feel better and you don't have more energy, and if your mind is not sharper and clearer,,,,,then by all means go back to eating all the meat and dairy products you want. Hopefully you won't be a colon cancer patient when you near middle age. Before shooting down any new idea (not saying they are are correct), but at least research them before making uneducated and uninformed opinions. I, myslef, am living proof that by changing my diet from meat and dairy products and aspartame, I, who was once bedridden and almost totally helpless, am now again a functioning member of society and working back in the Emergency Department of an hospital. That takes a lot of energy for someone who was given up on to be just an invalid for the rest of their live. To those of you who are vegetarians and vegans, keep the faith, and to those of you who are not....what harm in trying to live without meat and dairy products for a little while? You might be greatly surprised. Read up on any new idea you might want to try. There is plenty of SCIENTIFIC research to back up my comments. Good luck to all. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Take from it what you will, but don't condemn until you have the facts.

PS. Nowhere could you find the word tit in Vegetarian!
