According to one taste test performed among four experts in Canada, anyway. Yes, that's four coffee aficionados living in the Toronto area and working in the gourmet coffee field. Canadian Business magazine conducted blind taste tests comparing various drip premium coffees: McDonald's Corporation (NYSE: MCD), Starbucks Corporation (NASDAQ: SBUX), a brand called Tim Horton's, and a new Coca-Cola Company (NYSE: KO) coffee called "Far Coast."
That's the order in which they ranked: McDonald's "Café Roast" blend being the winner with 6.5 "cups" -- as they called their ratings points. Starbucks came in a not-that-close second with 5 cups, Tim Horton's right on its heels with 4, and Far Coast dead last with one single point. And that's only because two judges were nice enough to award it a half point, while the others handed it a goose egg.
Coke introduced Far Coast to market to fast food outlets and convenience stores within the last year.

I've tried the new McD coffee 4-5 times over the last few weeks, I like it quite a bit. If I had to come up w/ a negative comment I would say that maybe it's a bit too sweet. But I do really like it.

There are many coffee places that taste as good or better than Starbucks. Starbucks is selling very nice environments along with the coffee-- McDonald's is set up more for take-out.

As far as Starbucks regular coffee?.. I think it is far too bitter. If they could just think of a way to get that a little smoother.. they would be awesome. McDonalds coffee is much like mom used to make.. and who doesn't like moms coffee.

Let's not forget that great one -- Dunkin Donuts. Last year a taste test was done comparing Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts, and Dunkin won hands down.

We have tried the McDonald's coffee soon after it first was introduced. Our family ranks it just as bad as Denny's, and Burger King's. If you want good restaurant coffee try Bob Evans.

I think there are a few coffee houses that are way better than Starbucks. There's Espresso, Espresso in Oxnard in California; and The Coffee Bean. You can also buy the ground or unground coffee for your home pleasure. Both put out a great espresso and other drinks, confectionaries, and meals.

Starbuck's is better than gas station coffee, but I love Barnie's.

I have been drinking McDonalds coffee for several months now and I find it to be delicious. It is smooth, full flavored, and most importantly priced right.
Normally I would not choose to go to McDonalds for my coffee but one night very late and with a long drive ahead of me I went to the drive thru lane. Late at night its the only place open. The coffee is always fresh! Good job McD!

I think it is scary that McDonald's coffee came in first. McDonald's is notorious for the amount of chemicals they put in their products. Who knows if you're really drinking coffee or just chemicals.

Its nice to know that there ARE other coffee places with good coffee, but as a Washington resident with a coffee place on every corner, McDonalds still has wondeful coffee and the best price. I also doubt very seriously that they put any chemicals in their coffee.

I don't know about you guys and maybe they don't have Dunkin' Donuts in Canada, but their coffee is THE best. I have a DD & a Satrbucks about a 1/4 mile from my house and I choose DD for taste over Starbucks any day. I visit there twice, sometimes three times a day. It is always piping hot, smooth tasting, with just the right amount of cream & sugar added. Definitely the best. I agree with the comment about the unknown chemicals in McD's coffee-who knows what you are drinking!

I love, love, love Starbucks coffee. Nobody can come close to them in taste. The flavor and aroma can't be beat..not to mention the great stores and products available. I enjoy every cup I get. It makes me feel good just to go into one of the sotres and smell the coffee brewing. Mc'Donalds can't come close...

I must agree with that test. McDonald's has the best coffee. I can even now put it up against Dunkin Donuts, which always had a good cup of coffee. I think something changed with them. Not as good as it used to be. I will have to stick with McDonald's.

This is why they laugh at us in Europe. There is nothing worse than McDonald's coffee on the planet. Even instant is better. McDonald's tastes perpetually burned. For real coffee, nothing beats Peets.

If I am on the go then maybe I would pick up a cup on the road from Quick Trip, however home made coffee is the best! One can find all kinds of coffee makers at http://www.eHenrys.com/page/page/3693491.htm. I can make coffee the way I want. At the strenght or taste and it is always consistent and always comforting.

to Eric in #4... Starbucks sells regular coffee. You just have to order it. It's the first thing on the menu. And don't you see the coffee beans in front of your face when you walk in? Obviously they have different kinds for you to try. You don't have to order a frappuccino if you don't want a frappuccino.
