Many auction sites have attempted to challenge eBay's dominance of the world of online middlemen, and none so far has succeeded. But that doesn't stop new businesses from trying. I've been in communication with Lee Markham, the founder and development director of Tazbar, one site that would seek to challenge eBay, Inc. (NASDAQ:EBAY). Lee is a kind and business like fellow who has great vision for their growing auction site which he sees as a strong competitor in the online auction market.
Although www.Tazbar.com only went live on August 1, it has already attracted thousands of users who are looking for an alternative to the more established online auction sites. The management team at Tazbar.com are all experienced users of other online auction sites, so they know exactly what their strengths and weaknesses are. Tazbar.com has been two years in the planning, and they have designed it from the outset to be simpler and cheaper to use than all the others.
Quick reaction to customer issues will keep them happy.
This thinking has been fundamental in the way that Tazbar.com has been designed and developed.
Tim James, Tazbar Managing Director, explains:
"Listening and reacting quickly to customer feedback is what will always drive us. There is nothing worse than dealing with a faceless organisation that ignores your concerns. This philosophy has been central to the way that we have designed our fees structure. Unlike most other sites we charge no listing fee, so there is no risk for the seller to offer something for sale on Tazbar.com, also our final sale fees are cheaper. Overall, this means that the buyer will benefit as sellers are able to offer the same goods on Tazbar.com cheaper than on other sites."
A Wanted item section, where a user can advertise for something that they are looking for and a People section where individuals and organisations can freely promote their services, are important parts of the long-term strategy to grow the online community that Tazbar.com knows will be critical to their success.
Tazbar.Com is a UK based online person-to-person selling venue. It is different because it listens to its users and reacts quickly to comments with the aim of making online buying and selling an enjoyable and profitable experience. Tazbar does accept PayPal online payments.

Ok - I've tried Tazbar - tazbar - tazbar - tazbar and NOTHING. Dead air. Nothing but echo's in the night. It's just another fly-by-night auction site that will never deliver the traffic or sales ability that eBay does. Sorry - I'm dying for someone to dethrone elame - I really HATE their fee structure and it's getting worse every year. Which is a good thing - cause I'm expecting Google to make a run at this market soon and then we'll see some fair competition.

I have been selling on Tazbar for a few months and its great, as for being scum from ebay well us sellers are not the scum...
my company has been selling on ebay for over 3 years with 100% feedback of over 8000, i left ebay on my own free will, as you have to be a bit stupid to enjoy paying their fees and put up with the cant be bothered attitude, they just want your money and thats it,
well i hope sellers & buyers on ebay wake up and smell the coffee and come to tazbar where we are welcome & not ripped off,
thankyou tazbar and i hope you 110% success

Looks like it is overseas with pounds vs dollars, but Ill check it out, never hurts to expand and ebay fees are sucking up lots of profit.
especially posting fees, I see tazbar is free posting so that helps a lot, especially trying a new product out.

Ive got to say i dont agree with Deans (first post) having been an ebay member for nearly four years, i have only ever had one nuetral feedback all the rest have been positive, i have been a powerseller for two years but ebay has become a nightmare, i have scaled down my ebay selling over the last few months and had numerous 'fallouts' with ebay over things like the scammer who got away with an £800 LCD and ebay wanted to know nothing about it apart from the fact they still wanted their final value fee!
Ebays customer service is non existent - its useless, full of generic email information which you can find on the site anyway... thats the whole point in customer service isnt it.. to help with things that you are unsure of? Anyway, unless people change their ways nothing will be done about it and hopefully that will be ebays downfall.
I personally can't be arsed with ebay anymore for the amount of hard work i have to put in it just doesnt pay me to use ebay now so i wish Tazbar every success in what they are doing, its certainly a refreshing change.

I would like to say that ebay think they are GOD, they don't know the meaning of community. They work on a system of guilty until proved innocent! which i belive is the wrong way round. I know a few people they just suspended and gave them the opportunity to appeal, GUILTY TILL PROVEN INNOCENT.
Money corrupts all eventually and ebay have plenty of money and don't care about little Jo Bloggs who only makes a couple of dollars, after paying the ever rising fees and crap.

I hadn't even heard of Tazbar until I yesterday. I currently have listings on Ebay but after looking at this site will definately be signing up. Both the listing fees and Final Fees on Ebay are crippling me - the profit margin is slim, and I work very hard for what often seems to be next to nothing.

just got done responding to ebay asking them why they killed an auction. they felt my shipping charges were too much. actual shipping cost was 13.43 I charged 15.00. when I complained about it they quoted their usual user agreement scripture. then told me I should provide some rediculous breakdown, it already takes enough time to write ads. I am a power seller with 100% feedback. where are they when I loose money on shipping items. don't know if tazbar will roll over them but at the pace they are going it is only a matter of time.

I for one have found Tazbar to be a briliant new venue where not only are the fees a lot cheaper but the management listens to its users too.
It is also far more effective than Ebid, who I am also with.
I used to run auctions and shop listings on Greedbay but towards the end of last year got really fed up with the constant price hikes, being scammed, as a power seller getting lack of support, not to mention the latest stealth price hikes that make people think they are getting a good deal again. All in all I was losing on average around 20% of my slaes money to fees from Ebay and Paypoal combined just to keep the level of stock listed that I wanted too. With Tazbar I have way exceed item listed now to what I had on Greedbay.
Yes, sales are slow at present with Christmas just gone and it being a new site but they are doing all of the right things to bring trade to the site as both buyers and sellers and already I have had more success here than on Ebid who are much more established.
Also, ask yourselves this - Ebay set up Ebay Express and asked lots of shop owners to sign up as their listings in express would be free and taken from Ebay main site. How much longer I wonder will it be before Greedbay feel they have enough people hooked to then introduce charges for being on Express and in effect doubling sellers fees that took the plunge ?
For those people making a living on Greedbaty, it's time to take a serious look at what exactly it is costing you to be on there and start thinking about putting your eggs in more than one basket.
