Dear Santa,
I made the mistake of telling my lovely wife that she could stand a turn on the treadmill. I fear I have slipped down a couple notches on her "to buy for" list. It would appear that this Christmas you will be my only hope of getting something good. I do have some good news though, I salvaged the conjugal benefit package by admitting that I could stand doing a couple treadmill miles of my own. Yes, the woman is as forgiving as she is beautiful. (That should be good for a brownie point or two!)
In any case, Santa, I understand that you have an option available this year whereby we can have up to 10,000 investment shares of our choosing. If it's not too late to put in my request, I'd like to ask for a few. I promise that if you bring them to me I'll leave some cookies by the door... or possibly some pork chops and sauerkraut. Here's what I'll be looking for in my stocking: (pun intended)
First I'd like 1000 shares of Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ: YHOO). Yahoo! had a really big shake up this week. I expect to see some good things from it. The best move it made was to break management into three divisions. That gives it three times more opportunity to excel. I'm expecting that it'll make me a bundle.
Next, I want 2000 shares of Google Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOG) but only if you can promise that GOOG will split in the next year. I think the shares are at their top right now and I'm not getting any news of big growth spurts. If you have heard that it'll split, then please bring me some.
Third, I need to have 2000 shares of McDonald's Corp. (NYSE: MCD). Simply put, it has been very kind in the area of dividends. It's almost like it's giving money away. I want some of that. Besides, I fully expect that the company is going to make some noticeable and worthwhile changes in its menu over the next year. I want in on the excitement.
My fourth request is for 1000 shares of Home Depot. (NYSE: HD) I hope you didn't just fall off your chair. You see Santa, I think HD just bottomed out and I still think that because people are too darn scared to build new houses, that they're going to stick close to home and sink money into their old ones. If Home Depot doesn't blow to bits here in the fourth quarter and into next year, then I want to be there for the long slow ride back up. Call me an idealist or call me an idiot, I just think there's still some good news left in there.
You can also bring along 1000 shares of GM, (NYSE: GM) 1000 shares of Ford (NYSE: F) and 1000 shares of Chrysler (NYSE: DCX). They're the home team Santa, I just have to support them. I always did like the underdog you know. I think they all three are trying real hard to get their feet back under them. Please see what you can do to help.
Last I'd like 1000 shares of XSUNX. (OTCBB: XSNX) It's a high risk penny stock you know. They're working on a solar collection technology which is a clear plastic film that can be applied to any window. If they can make it work, they're going to sell the patent and we'll have to find out who the manufacturer will be. That is of course if Exxon doesn't buy the patent to kill it. It's my gambler's choice of the lot. If there's room in your sack, please bring it along. At less than 50 cents a share it won't cost you too much.
Well, that's my 10,000 shares Santa. I'm hoping that you can make this happen. If you can't deliver, then I think Christmas be a shut out for me this year. It's just another case of better luck next time I suppose. If you can't fill my order, don't feel too bad about it. Besides, you already know what I really want for Christmas but that will probably have to wait until after Q4'06 financial reports come through. That's okay, I've waited this long already and we all know that nothing good ever comes easy, but that's another letter for another time. I have to go get some eggnog now. Take care of yourself Santa. I'll be watching for you!
