A couple of weeks ago, during my commute from Manhattan, I spotted a car that intrigued me. This car was unlike anything I'd seen before. It turns out that it was Nissan Versa from Nissan Motor Co.'s (NASDAQ:NSANY).
The Nissan Versa has been in the news in the past couple of days because of a study done by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. According to the results, of the subcompact cars tested, the Versa got the highest marks for safety in three separate crash categories; simulated front, side and rear crashes. All of which is great since safety is one of the key factors that drives one to buy a car. The Versa also got high marks for its smaller dimensions and fuel efficiency.
However, looks and appeal are also important. When I saw that car my reaction was awe and curiosity. So, if my gut instinct is correct, then I can safely assume that this car will soon be hot on the hipster agenda.

Why don't you write about Ford and their vehicles on the Ford blog? I'm tired of everything foreign being great, everything American being bad. Am I the last American with two Fords (a Mustang and a Lincoln Aviator, both excellent cars) in my driveway?

It's a Nissan, what you saw was a rare instance of it moving without a tow truck.

I have had nothing but Ford vehicles my entire driving lifetime. At the present I have a Ford Explorer and a Ranger. I am considering a trade in for a new vehicle. I am not thinking Ford unless they at least match GM's warranty, witch has recently matched the imports. If Ford does not believe in itself why should I

I grew up with a Mustang and now own two Expeditions and a Taurus. I went through a couple of other cars on the way back to my Fords and have been really happy with my maintenance free vehicles now.

Michael, there is a reason why Ford is approaching bankruptcy. You can go ahead and buy their junk. I am not buying their junk nor the idea that buying Ford is American. Do you know where those cars are made? Not US labor that is for sure...

It's always enligtening to see these holier than though types rail about how GM or Ford are so "un-American" and then spout off about how buying a Toyota Honda or Nissan that supports a nation that is screwing with currency values is "American". When will you wake up and see the truth. The US is getting plundered from inside and outside with few benefiting here and many overseas while the middle class is having economic genocide performed upon it.
Go figure it out, Japan deliberately keeps interest rates low to screw us. They will not allow foriegn investment, only explotation of other markets. They hold so much of "our" debt, they are telling "our" leaders where to go. And you idiots don't see it. Nothing like Lemmings walking off a cliff and this nation is full of them.
We have accepted the WalMart philosophy on everything that we buy. Damn the source or what it involves, low prices regardless of who gets screwed.
BTW, think that Japan doesn't screw with values? Check out the problems the Korean auto companies are having. They've gone up so fast that they don't belive they can build and sell here at profit anymore. There's economics working as they should, not the crooks from Japan.
