Texas Pacific: $8.4 billion a month

More

Several months ago, I had a chance to see the co-founder of the Texas Pacific Group, David Bonderman, give a presentation. I was kind of shocked. How did he find the time?

According to a story in the Financial Times, TPG was the top private equity firm for 2006 – with involvement in a stunning $101 billion in deals (there were 17 transactions in all). Keep in mind that there were $700 billion worth of deals for 2006.

In fact, a variety of the deals – such as Harrah's and Qantas – happened at the end of 2006.

Expect the momentum to continue into the new year. Although, it's likely to see TPG get much more aggressive in overseas markets, such as in Europe and Asia.
