As The New York Times chronicles the collapse of Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F), the company has decided it is tired of having sand kicked in its face by Honda (NYSE:HMC) and Toyota (ADR)(NYSE:TM)
The U.S. car company will begin advertising its Fusion model as a direct and better car than its competition, the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord. Both Japanese models outsell the Fusion.
Ford's vehicle sales fell almost 8% in the U.S. during 2006.
Ford clearly wants to part with its sissy boy image and show that it is not going to be pounded to a pulp by its Japanese competitors. Not, at least, without a fight.
It may even work.

It is about time that Ford Motor does this approach. But the Asian's will fight with the same tactic.

I've had Fords, plus many other American cars. I've also had 5 Toyotas. Believe me, Toyotas are the best!

Watching Mulally at Boeing shows that he knows how to market ideas, and back them up with quality production.

About time Ford gets tuff with these Jap competitors and start fighting back. The American public is putting their own people out of work by buying Jap autos. I say build a American slogan, Buy American only and not Foreign Autos so we can keep our people working!! USA fight song in the future!!!

Ford has no idea on how to get and keep their customers. They build BORING cars with no style! And the Mustang, come on how hard is it to bring back a modern day version of it? Mustangs are a dime a dozen at best.

The first thing Ford has to do if it wants to put up a fight is to match the competitors warranties. Its a no-brainer.

Having driven Buicks, VW's and Mercedes for years, with all service at dealerships and receiving horrible service, I can say with good authority that the service rendered by Ford during the past five years far surpasses that offered by anyother manufacturer. While the comfort and style is not comparable, the service wins hands down and keeps me continuing as a Ford customer. I am convinced they will wake up and hear the call so that in the near future not only will their service surpass all others in their class; but, so will the models they offer.
