Another day, another retail recall. This one, however, sounds a little dangerous. Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (NYSE:WMT) has issued a recall for a house brand (the "Sam's Choice" brand) of trail mix due to the possibility of pieces of glass being mixed in with the ingredients. That's a way to crack a tooth, eh?This past weekend, Wal-Mart ordered stores to remove Sam's Choice "Nature Trail" Trail Mix from sale in addition to blocking registers from ringing up the product. That is a very good response and would virtually eliminate -- immediately -- the sale of the product. However, it won't help those who recently purchased the product, which is the reason for the recall.
Ann's House of Nuts, based in Maryland, is the supplier of the product that is adorned with one of Wal-Mart's house-brand names. It's unclear how bits of plastic and glass found their way into bags that ended up on Wal-Mart food shelves.
