"Oh, nice!" I groaned when I first saw the pics and heard of the features of the iPhone. It's like they thought of me, I thought. It's as if, when the designers over at Apple Computer Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) designed the phone, they actually had people in mind, actual breathing and living people, not just consumers. But isn't this exactly what Apple always did best?Let's see:
- Multi-touch screen - check. I'm a horrible texter and I'd love to be able to avoid clicking on those tiny buttons altogether. And that touch screen -- no need for stylus, I can use my fingers -- yay!
- Automatic synch - check. Updating my Palm is always such a chore, this would be sweet.
- What else? 2-megapixel digital camera, SIM card, shows 4 or 8GB on the screen, 3.5-inch screen, proximity sensor (bring the iPhone to your ear and your display shuts off and touchscreen shuts down), web browser, push email ... - check.
- Price tag - $499 or $599 - a little pricey, but not that bad considering the features.
- Small - All that and small? You gotta be kiddin' me. Of course I want one.
If early in the morning a colleague thought the iPhone won't work, then I'm here now to say, Apple came (to MacWorld), Apple showed (the iPhone), Apple conquered (or definitely will). The iPhone is, by all accounts, revolutionary!
So while Apple stock is up over 7.5%, Research in Motion Ltd. (NASDAQ:RIMM) shares are down over 7.5% and Palm Inc. (NASDAQ:PALM) shares are down 5%.

I didn't think I would want one when I first heard about this "ipod phone" thing.
But now, after seeing it. I need one to LIVE.
If Jobs were a drug dealer we would all be dead.

Apple Computer received many positive comments from analysts on CNBC yesterday and Steve Jobs was promoying the product. It looks cool and follows Apple's great history of innovation. Some analysts are already saying it is a home run and will add 25-75 cents to Apple's earnings. Comments of Steve Jobs- who says he wants one himself- Internet analyst Ryan Jacob and others are posted at he Apple Channel at www.Barrelomoney.com.
