First Don Imus, now Rosie O'Donnell.
The yenta the right wing loved to hate said today that she's leaving ABC's The View in June. O'Donnell insists that she's left on her own accord because she wasn't able to reach a contract agreement with the Walt Disney Co. (NYSE: DIS) network. In an unsuccessful effort to counter the tabloid gossip to the contrary, the show's Queen Bee Barbara Walters insisted that she had nothing to do with O'Donnell's departure.
On her blog, the comic turned conspiracy theorist summed up her situation in verse. Seriously, Rose is -- among other things -- a poet. Here is a sample that I think speaks to her situation.
one on one
as it is done
without fanfare
or press
Will Rosie get a chance to again spout her ill-informed conspiracy theories on the nation's airwaves? You betcha. As I've argued before left wing wacko personalities such as O'Donnell have as much of a right to spout nonsense as the Bill O'Reillys and Rush Limbaughs of the world.
Somehow, somewhere Rosie will be back. She brings in ratings. That's enough of a reason for some media company to let her do her own show. Imus will make a come back for that same reason. Rosie will come out of this just fine.
About the only losers in this scenario is Disney. O'Donnell's departure will lead to lower ratings and lower ad revenue for ABC. The network is going to have to replace her with someone feisty just to prove that it didn't cave into pressure from Donald Trump. It will be tough.
Maybe Ann Coulter is available? Can you imagine the sparks that would fly between the right wing commentator and the other panelists? It will never happen of course, but it would make for entertaining viewing.

Yes, Rosie will be fine--but I disagree that her departure will have a negative impact on Disney/ABC. As I posted in my media blog, www.mondaymorningmediaquarterback.com, removing her was a commercial decision; "The producers and advertisers would probably have been fine if she confined her comments to Donald Trump and American Idol, instead of dancing on the electrified third rail of World Trade Center conspiracy theories." With the heat she was taking, ABC and the producers wanted an exit to protect their investment.

Yes, as much as I'd like to believe Rosie is the one who left, I do believe she was fired. Disney trys to portray family-based media programming, and what Rosie has been doing has more or less been killing the spirit of disney's positiveness. I do like Rosie as a media entertainer, however she needs to have a serious attitude adjustment when opening her mouth if she wants to work for #1 rated Disney.

I LOVE Rosie. I don't always agree with her (though mostly I do) and I don't always like the way she speaks to Elizabeth, but I only started watching the View because of her. I get bored when she is not on the View. I never like when she is on vacation. I have serious doubts I would continue watching when she leaves.
As much as Rosie is against Bush, Elizabeth is for him. Isn't it funny most Americans hate Bush, yet nobody gets on Elizabeth, yet everyone picks on Rosie. Is it because Elizabeth is as cute as button and Rosie is heavier? Things that make me go... hmmmmm.

Rosie will be just fine after leaving The View. The View, however, will not have it so good, as ratings and advertisers will be pulling back. I suspect Rosie will be back on a show, but it will be her own show, and her loyal watchers, such as myself, will follow her. I have always liked listening to Rosie's theories, and I don't think she's too far off on a lot of them. I think she ticks people off, especially those that look at things through "rosy" colored glasses, because the truth can often hurt. I enjoy a good debate, and Rosie can pull that off better than anyone I have ever heard before. A lot of people don't like a strong person, and Rosie fits that category also. I will miss The View, but only because the one view I turn in for, will be gone. Good luck Rosie, and I'll see you on the tube magain soon.

Was Rosie kicked off because of her comments on 9/11 and the Iraq War? To read why she takes such a position, see http://bogusstory.com/ for both Iraq and 9/11 news not known to most.
Her one-time footage of "funny-speak Chinese" was obviously a weapon to use against her. Who doesn't have some flaw that could be used against them?
