Last night's American Idol final made one thing clear to me -- 17-year-old Jordin Sparks should win. And if DialIdol is an accurate indicator, Sparks has the votes -- with a score of 45 to Blake Lewis's 30.
I've never heard of DialiIdol, but according to its website, DialIdol's software speed dials votes for Idol contestants. DialIdol measures the busy signal to predict who will be voted off and it claims that it was 87% accurate for American Idol's fifth season. Moreover, DialIdol claims to have accurately predicted the winner of every show it has covered.
While I enjoyed the story about how Lewis started "beatboxing" because his father wouldn't buy him a drum set, I thought Sparks demonstrated that she was the better singer. She turned the mediocre winner of the songwriting competition -- This Is My Now -- into a tear-jerker that left voters with a much better reason to vote for Sparks than did Lewis's embarrassed rendition.
So I think Sparks will win -- the big question is whether she'll have the kind of post-Idol career that Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood have enjoyed -- or whether she'll fade into Taylor Hicks-like obscurity.

Selling a million records and performing sold out concerts? Obscurity? Just because Taylor Hicks is not a SELL-OUT, doesn't mean he is unsucessful!!!

AI jumped the shark, starting with Taylor Hicks win last season, the most boring and lackluster winner in AI history. Still it showed what powervoting could do, first Hicks then followed by Sanyaja's overstay on the show when other worthy contestants left, but the pony-wielding failure remained. So who cares if Blake or Jordin wins when someone like Melinda Doolittle which can sing circles around them isn't there?

AMERICAN IDOL FRAUD (AI is NOT Live)
You write that Jordan cried at the end of her performance of This Is My Now. She did indeed. Now go back and look at the snips of that performance shown at the end of the show.
PRESTO CHANGE-O! NO MORE TEARS.
For those of you who recorded last night's show, replay it watching more closely. At the end of the show there are snips of Jordan's and Blake's performances. The snips are from ADDITIONAL performances of their songs.
Live! MY BUTT.
It's obvious the producers picked witch performances they let the TV audience see.
This WREAKS of vote rigging fraud.

Melinda was an awesome talent that was cut but I wouldn't go so far to say she could sing circles around Jordin. It's personal preference. Jordin's voice gives me the chills unlike Melinda's.

The explanation was given that they don't have time to make a collage of the live performances to show at the end, so they use the dress-rehearsal performances for that. That's why each one shown at the end was a little different from the live one.
