iPhone launch date: Everything we know about when the iPhone will be available
When will the Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) iPhone be released? When will AT&T (NYSE: T)/Cingular stores have it available for sale? How much will customers pay if they're signing up for two-year contracts? Will it be delayed? If it will, what does that even mean?
Although it appears that the iPhone will be available for sale in AT&T/Cingular stores and website, and on the Apple web site [update: and Apple stores] sometime between June 11 and June 30, there still is no solid date --
Update: The iPhone release date of June 29 has been confirmed as of June 3, 2007.
-- what's more, customers won't be able to pre-order and so will have to (in all likelihood) stand in line on a day yet-to-be-determined in order to get their hands on one of the hot items. I know I'll be in line, but here's the ironic part: I won't be able to live blog from my iPhone, because I won't have it yet. Click through our gallery to learn everything there is to know about the iPhone and its projected launch date!

Many have been saying it is a verizon only phone, but that seems to me possibly a verizon only discount. Being that Apple is selling the phone on www.apple.com would lead me to believe you can buy it at full price and take it to any carrier. I don't see any reason why Apple would have people sign up for service that does not belpng to them on the site. Apple would be dumb not to sell it to everyone.

The iPhone is an ATT phone for 5 long years (rumored 5 years). Under contract, Apple can not make other versions for other networks. With that same contract, I can't see Apple selling them in their stores without signing some sort of ATT contract.
Maybe the hackers will be able to unlock the iPhone so it will work on other GSM networks??
VZW customers are rumored to have the LG Prada coming their way this summer. So VZW will need to step up REAL SOON because they could be losing a fair amount of customers to ATT.

First comment is fairly misinformed.
You left out that phone will be available at Apple stores (brick and mortar).

Indeed the first comment regarding sell at apple.com website currently may not
be feasible, but very soon after launch, it must be available every where including
in online cellular stores
Any new product like iphone, initially creates curiosity, but with changing fast
world, keeping a 5 year binding contract may not necessarily find cellular customer.
