I saw this photo of George Bush wearing Crocs on Styledash, and laughed at the suggestion he be impeached for wearing such ugly footwear (although, to be honest, I thought he looked rather dashing in them -- did I just type that?). I thought, hey, great endorsement! and started clicking around to other web sites. That's when I saw this Forbes article about how Bush's May 18 fundraiser for the Republican Party was held at the estate of Rick and Sherry Sharp. Guess which company Rick Sharp is chairman of? Well, there are two, but the first one is Crocs, Inc. (NASDAQ: CROX). (The other one is Carmax, Inc. (NYSE: KMX).)
Could it be a coincidence that the country's president is shot sporting the iconic Crocs beach shoes at about the same time his buddy Rick helped raise $630k? Sure, that's chump change when it comes to party fundraising, but I'd be willing to bet the buzz surrounding Bush's fashion choices could have an equal effect to the price of Crocs' stock, which is (of course) very near its all-time high as it is, at $91.01, up 11 cents as of this writing. It's not quite dirty politics, but it is curious and curiouser.
Another BloggingStocks blogger, Garry E. Sattler, opined on the matter: President Bush and Crocs thumb their noses at media polls approval rating

Gee Sara, with your negative blogs could it be you "missed the boat" on buying CROX? Suck a lemon and relax!

Well Jana, I suppose if you want to be one of the millions of Americans who just blindly accept everything and not question authority or connections then that's fine with me, but I do think the connection between Bush and the owner of Crocs is very suspicious. Honestly, can the man participate in any activities that do not include endorsement for the damn republican party? Maybe with all the free time he'll have he can think of something to do in Iraq.

Who really cares what kind of shoes the President wears anyway? I wouldn't care if he went barefoot.

Have you ever worn crocs? They are the most comfortable shoe I've ever worn. Nurses wear them during their shifts, drs during surgery. Bush looks great in them...not everything is political people...

If I think about it hard and long enough (30 seconds) I am sure I can find a link to myself and the Crocs Chairman. Come on. Impeachment? Over a pair of ugly shoes that a perplexingly large number of people are wearing? Why not research every shoe the President has ever worn and conduct background investigations? I've heard people literally blame the President for the weather (let's not go into the whole global warming thing, please) but a shoe conspiracy? Stop insulting our intelligence and.., please, find a real subject :)

Sarah, you missed the logo on his hat, the Bermuda shorts and the Cheverolet he was about to enter!

Could it just be that he wears them because he likes them or does someone have to make a "connection" out of everything he does and everything he wears? He is still a person and needs to eat, drink, sleep and wear clothes like everyone else and the last time I checked there wasnt a special store just for the President.

Sara,
The picture of our President and the fact that he was wearing Crocs caught my eye I guess because I am a republican and myself and my entire family own at least one pair of croc's. However, after reading the jiberish that you put in your blog I had to laugh over the fact that as humans we can be the most pickest creatures on earth. Bill Clinton liked cirgars if I recall as we heard in all of the stories that was his demise. I wander if he was getting special funds from that group or at the least complementry cigars.
Once again it's all in the way you line up on party lines.
Thanks for the laugh,
Matt O'Brien

Duh, dweebs...the President is not running for reelection. The fundraising event was for the Republican Party and thank God they are raising so much money to help us throw the Democrat Nazi's out of power again. But, don't let reality get in the way of hysterical comedy. We like watching you froth at the mouth and delude yourselves with spurious feces of idiotic thoughts. Thanks, John

What a Crock! Anyone who has tried a pair of Crocs knows they are wonderful. Thats all I wear these days. President Bush has taken a beating since day one and I am very tired of all the frivalous complaints about him. He is just a man who is trying to the best he can for this great country to keep us safe and keep in tact some morals in a world that is rotting and decaying around us. I pray that we will wake up before 2008. God Bless America.

Who cares what kind of shoes the President wears? I guess it should be noted that the car he was standing by was a Chevolet, and what kind of pants did he have on? By the way, I love mine!

Am I the only person who doesn't own (let alone have heard of prior) crox ? Then again I'm a heterosexual male that wears knee high leather demonia boots, eyeliner, and has neon red hair.
All of that aside, everyone complaining about Bush needs to take a 101 on how our government works, and realize both parties need to be held accountable.
As for what he wears, I could care less, at least this is more human than a f*ckin suit and red tie. I wouldn't care if the president dressed like Morpheus from the matrix.
And hell free stuff is free stuff either way.
