J2 Global: Voicemail value

"In this era of the iPhone, our new growth pick provides seemingly mundane telephone messaging services," says Harry Domash in his Winning Investing, referring to j2 Global Communications (NASDAQ: JCOM)

The advisor explains, "j2 Global Communications provides telephone messaging and fax communications services in 40 countries via the Internet. Its brands include eFax, eVoice, jConnect and others. Subscribers are assigned a private telephone number that can receive unlimited incoming messages."

Via its services, he notes, subscribers receive faxes sent to their phone number via email. Voicemail customers, he adds, are notified by email when they receive a message, click on a link in the email to listen to the message through their computer speakers.

Domash explains, "j2 has added recently new services targeted to small businesses. j2 is growing sales in the mid-20% range, and we expect that growth rate to continue for the next two years. j2 is profitable, has no long-term debt, and is cash flow positive."

While its operations may seem mundane, he observes, you won't think its profitability and growth rate are boring. Indeed, he points out that j2 will report its June quarter results on August 6 and that analysts expect earnings of $0.35 per share, up 35% over year ago. He rates the stock a buy for a holding period of 12 to 24 months.
