The New York Times Co. (NYSE: NYT) today reported second quarter profit of $118.4 million, or 82 cents per share, compared with $59.6 million, or 41 cents, a year earlier. Excluding one-time items, profit was 34 cents, beating Wall Street estimates of 31 cents. Sales droped 3.7 percent to $788.9 million.
