Flash: Europe sells off in early trading--Barclays down over 5%

Shares in Europe sold off quickly at the open.

London's FTSE was down 1.8% in early trading. Big bank Barclays (BCS) fell 5.1% to 646.5.

The German Daxx opened off 1.6% to 7,337. DeutscheBank (DB) was off 4% to 94.67.

The French CAC 40 was down 1.9% to 5,519. BNP Paribas was off 3.2% to 79.92.
