For about 16 months I have been writing about business news, the over-all market, pet peeves and some stocks I like. At times I have responded to inquiries in the comments section or follow-up posts. Sometimes I have responded directly to some of our regular readers. Many of our readers are quite-well versed in the investment world and the stock market in particular; and I have learned some things from them too. On many occasions something a reader has commented on has stimulated another story, and I have done several sagas during my tenure.
BloggingStocks has improved every month and when I look at the company I am keeping lately I am flattered to be among them. Our editors have been extremely encouraging and supportive. One of the best features about this site that I think puts us head and shoulders above others is the almost instant feedback afforded by the comments section and the dialog that ensues. This is not possible in magazines or sites trying to compete online with large business journals.
Given the potential of the Internet and the investing culture being developed on our site I thought I would give readers the opportunity to ask about various stocks or investment trends and I would try and follow-up with a few thoughts. I am not an analyst so I cannot give you anything like an S&P report but we can start a dialog and this will also allow others to chime in. I have been rather successful (or very lucky) to date with my own stock picking. If this give and take develops into something meaningful then I might do it on a regular basis.
This is your chance, what stocks are of interest to you?
Read Chasing Value or Serious Money to find potential opportunities, and to verify my track record, as well.

I recently read Phil Town's "Rule #1" and found it enlightening. It's sort of a combination of Peter Lynch and Warren Buffet phhilosophy with a touch of technical analysis. Any comment?
I have been channeling GTW for quite a while now but it looks like with the buyout I will have to find another game to play.
My only complaint about this site is the very limited time for serious discussion before the treads go away.

Hal,
Threads do not really disappear. You can look up most of the posts by clicking on the writers "by-line" and browse. In the case of certain features, like my Chasing Value, Serious Money and Sunday Funnies features they can be found in the header under stock picks etc.
If this post gets going it might become another feature.

Always one to try to stay on the "safe side" I suppose, but MGE Energy (MGEE) - bought a decade ago, still steady & stable. Eaton Corp (ETN), Lilly (LLY), Yum

I have been looking at Koninklijke Philips Electronics (PHG). Canada has announced that by 2012 you will not be able to buy common incandescent light bulbs. This means homes are either going to be lit by compact fluorescents or LED...
Which leads me to my next pick. CREE Inc (CREE), They manufacture one of the best brightest LEDs around. Flashlight manufacturers are using them in most high end lights (see Surefire) and they are manufacturing LED replacements for street lights and parking garage lighting. I believe Wal-Mart is going to be using them in their stores as well.
My next pick is LDK SOLAR CO (LDK), A Chinese company that recently had its IPO and since has boomed. I am pretty happy with the 100%+ that it has gone up ;)

VKSY.
I'm a big follower of your columns and agree with value approach to investing. VKSY to me is a very long-term (so by default speculative?) stock and I've seen what ISRG did to you :D. Looking forward to any comments you may have on this one.
LUM and PHM are also in my watch list currently.

VKSY is a penny stock with none of the metrics I would consider. It is a wast of time.
