Option update: WSJ reports of MSFT in talks with Facebook; MSFT calls active

Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) is recently up .77 to $29.41. The Wall Street Journal reported MSFT is in talks about an investment in Facebook. WSJ.com says "investment would value Facebook at $10 billion or more." MSFT had cash & equivalents of $6 billion as of 6/30/07. MSFT call option volume of 96,641 contracts compares to put volume of 30,220 contracts. MSFT October option implied volatility of 23 is near its 26-week average according to Track Data, suggesting non-directional risk.
