The USA Today wins the prize for the
Lamest Commentary to Date on the probable ousting of
Merrill Lynch (NYSE:
MER) CEO Stanley O'Neal:
If Merrill Lynch ousts Stanley O'Neal as expected, it will be seen as a standstill in the steps made by African-American CEOs over the last eight years, but the setback will only be temporary, say those who follow such progress.
What? Why would this be a standstill for African-American CEOs? I would argue that this is more like a standstill for CEOs who lose $7.9 billion on subprime mortgages.... then negotiate mergers behind the backs of their directors.
And is that really something that should be lamented?

I don't think this CEO is good for the company! I saw his profile on millionaire dating site WealthyRomance.com. Seems he is busy with dating beautiful women now! lol

It's not about race or gender-- It's about job performance. How can it be called "fired" when he walks away with $ 200. million !!

Stan O'Neal should not have resigned over and issue that has systemic roots. I think he was NOT well liked because he was NOT a good ole boy! Still shows that jealousy and hatred live at all socio-economic levels.

CNBC commentators thought it was about race. One of their commentators remarked " lets call a spade a spade" on their morning show today. They have been after Stan O'Neil head for weeks. Now they are trying to keep him from getting any money(like no other CEO was paid when they left their job).

Race?...C'mon please. This definately was not about race it was purely about not doing your job!
Dont you think he knew he was on his way out? It was just a matter of time. Well now he has all the time in the world and all the money he needs to do whatever he wants while the rest of the company runs around like chickens with their heads cut off!
Stan you are not the Man anymore!
