Flash: Four million more Chinese toys recalled

U.S. regulators are recalling more than four million sets of the popular Aqua Dots arts-and-craft toys. Two children in the U.S. who swallowed the sets' beads lapsed into comas before recovering, and children also fell ill overseas.

According to The Wall Street Journal "the toy's manufacturer, Moose Enterprise, of Melbourne, Australia, yesterday said the problem had been traced to a Chinese factory it contracted that substituted a toxic chemical for a safe glue during manufacturing."

The timing could hardly be worse with Christmas just weeks away. Parents will not feel encouraged about buying toys made in China, but large retailers and manufacturers rely on them for their high profit margins.

Buy American.
