Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee While the race for Democratic nomination for president seems to be 67% wrapped up with Hillary Clinton getting the nomination, the Republican nomination is far from settled. According to Intrade.com, a betting site where you can bet on the outcome of the elections, Mike Huckabee has been gaining a lot of ground recently.

As a stock analyst, I can recognize a healthy, up-trending chart, and support for Huckabee has taken off in the last two months, from a 3% chance of the Republican nomination to a 12% chance of the nomination.

Huckabee, a former Baptist minister and governor of Arkansas, has been gaining support among social conservatives who do not like Giuliani and Romney's stands on social issues like abortion and gay marriage.

Huckabee still has a long way to go, but is now third in the race for the nomination. Will Huckabee come from behind to sweep the White House like another Arkansas governor did 15 years ago? It may still be too early to tell, but he is quickly gaining momentum in the race.

So what would be the effects of President Huckabee? He is for staying the course in Iraq, so defense stocks like Boeing (NYSE: BA), Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT), and Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) would continue to do well. Huckabee is committed to putting the IRS out of business by eliminating all federal income taxes with the revenue replaced with a sales tax. That would hurt companies that make money off tax preparation like H&R Block (NYSE: HRB) and Intuit (NASDAQ: INTU), but make Americans a lot happier on April 15. Health foods companies like Whole Foods (NASDAQ: WFMI) would also do well under the healthy living lifestyle of Huckabee, who lost 110 pounds for health reasons.

Guiliani is leading with 42.7%, but the Republican nomination is still far from decided, and it is too far away to say who will win.
