Tonight could prove to be one of those rare times when men and women everywhere will not be fighting over what to watch on television as the nation tunes in to the 2007 Victoria's Secret fashion show. What will be slightly different this time around will be the importance that the show places on its Pink line, a collection of clothes aimed at the college and young teen crowd [subscription required].Sales at Victoria's Secret have been struggling lately as a result of declining mall visitors, as well as a couple of nasty fashion mistakes at its stores. There has been one bright spot, however, the company's Pink line. The retail line includes items such as colorful underwear, pajamas, clothing and accessories, all aimed at a younger-than-traditional Victoria's Secret audience.
The retailer's parent company, Limited Brands Inc. (NYSE: LTD), has already posted a dismal 48% drop in net income for its third quarter, and has warned investors not to expect too much out of its fourth quarter results either.
For Victoria's Secret, it looks as though the retailer is going to be counting on the continued strength of its Pink line to help turn things around going forward. It hopes to increase the average size of its stores by about 50% over the next five years, and much of that growth space is going to allow for the growth of its Pink line.
With the retailer wanting to move more towards a younger demographic, it decided to hold auditions around college campuses earlier this year to find a new model to share the catwalk tonight with the traditional Victoria's Secret models you would expect to be seeing. The winner was Katie Wile, from USC.Another testament to just how popular the Pink line has become is the fact that its website is currently one of the most popular sites on Facebook.com, with over 350,000 registered members.
To check out the latest in the Pink line, tune into the company's fashion show tonight. The show is scheduled to get under way at 10 PM EST on CBS.

you're damn rigth if I pay 40 bucks for a bra it better last fo rat least a year, there is no reason why my underwire should fall out after 2 washes. Good luck with the Pink line Vickies because I think you may have lost the older customers

Umm.. I have no idea why your underwires are falling out after 2 washes. I've had a lot of my bras for about five years now, all from Victoria's Secret. They're all still in good condition. Every other place I've bought bras from, the underwires pop out or the material just doesn't last. Same goes for their underwear. It does not fall apart.

while most of us can appreciate that VS wants to remain current.
One of the main reasons their stocks are down is because they have shut out the over 22 year old set whom incidentally hold the purse strings.
For the over 22 year old crowd when a relationship has got more than one superbowl season under it's belt; the time will come when a girl needs to pull out the "heavy artillery" the baby doll nightgowns, the ultra sheer gorgettes and silk and sexy flannels and chemise to as the expression goes "kick things up a notch" in the bedroom. But where has it all gone.
There's nothing wrong with a ultra sexy flannel baby doll with lace up to "there" or pj's with silk or charmeuse accents or just plain yards of flowing fabric to make even "Venus" pale in comparison.
It's not just VS where the problem seems to exist but everywhere. You can't even go into any store and buy a paper thin silk or chemise camisole to wear under those magnificent sheer fabric blouses. No, instead there's doubleknit, and doubleknit and more doubleknit.
Granted, for wintertime perhaps on a daily basis the ticker fabrics provide some warmth. But, even in the wintertime there is a "place" for the sexiness of the camisoles that used to be sold here and everywhere.
it's what you "do" the fabrics such as flannel that can take them from pure functional with no appeal or to ultra "sexy" that can make a guy drool before you even get it off the hanger at the store.
The public needs and is entitled to have a place such as VS where art and whimsy can become reality this is what sells.
Somehow sweats pink or otherwise; isn't going to cut it when those days where the really "heavy artillery" is required.
Vs needs to get back to it's "roots" so to speak and widen it's choices of texture and prints in fabrics and get back to beautiful camisoles, night gowns, pj's and bath wraps!!
Vs needs to make VS a place where a couple can come in and pick up a nighty where the guys will be drooling to get us girls home so we can wear them.
Somehow, sweats and a pullover tank just isn't going to do it on those days.
All of us agree we don't want to see VS go by way of the dinosor. VS can be all things to all people just expand those creative minds and lets see what VS can "really" do for the tweenies and those over 22 years old as well.
Hopefully someone reads these boards because if they do, i am sure they will accept the challenge and "rise" to the occasion.

My daughter buys (used to buy) her bras from VS. They were not made well. She wears a 36DD and found very little support no matter where she shopped and thought that VS would be different since they had a greater selection of 36DDs. Wrong. She is now ordering hers from a door-to-door cosmetics company. And they are less expensive. After almost 6 months, no wire problems.

I stopped spending my money in Victoria's Secret last summer when I went in to purchase the stockings I've been buying there for years. The little sxxx working there informed me (rudely) that they don't carry the stockings anymore..and that those were more for "older women" ...well honey...I was out of there permanently...Since us "older women" (in my 40's) are the one's with the purse strings it's no wonder their stocks are down..I for one was insulted and am happy to go somewhere else...Also, it was obvious that the current stock sucked big time..junk..I wouldn't go back there since the quality is terrible and the selection is not anything like the loungerie store of the past..it used to have classier loungerie..now it's cheaply made and looks like it's for kids (who shouldn't be wearing that stuff anyway!)

I used to buy all my things there. They are some of the cheapest made under things I have ever wasted my money on.... I have the money to spend.. but I am not a stupid shopper. I really don't care who's name is on it as long as it is made well. They fall apart very easy and now they are not even making the high waisted/wide band thongs any longer. While a thin lil strap panty is cute for some moments :-) let's get real.. the work day requires a wee bit more!!
Bottom Line: Their Quality Sucks!!
If it wasn't for the 'models' and the 'name' they would be no better than Walmart! In fact Walmart brand is pretty and lasts sooo much longer.

When will Victoria's Secret go for the 5 and under crowd? Toddlers need to spice up their love lives, too!
