Tiger Woods has been a staple on money lists for over a decade now, so I doubt anyone is unaware of the magnitude of his income. This past year, though, has been a great one even by his standards.
He had an outstanding year on the golf course, with seven tour victories, including a PGA championship and the overall Tour Championship. Along the way, he led the tour with winnings of over $10 million.
This was only the beginning of his cash flow, though. Endorsement money well exceeded his on-course winnings. In addition to his standing affiliations with Nike (NYSE: NKE), General Motors (NYSE: GM) and others, Procter & Gamble's (NYSE: PG) Gillette signed him to a new deal for $10-20 million as part of its "Gillette Champions" campaign. In the fall, PepsiCo's (NYSE: PEP) Gatorade agreed to pay him up to $100 million to license a Tiger Woods brand of sports drink, due out next spring. He also moved forward on his newest venture, golf course design, announcing plans for his first U.S. design, The Cliffs at High Carolina.
Tiger continues to dominate his sport and keep his image positive. Young, vastly talented, and a shrewd businessman, in 2007 he not only drove the green, he raked it in, too.

After taking 10 weeks off when a guy comes back and blows away the competition, you know that he is on to something special. The amazing bit about Tiger Woods is that he not only makes a lot of money from the game he also gives back to the game. Even after his victory this week at the Target World Challenge, Tiger donated all his money to the Tiger Woods Foundation which does a great deal of good work with needy children.
Perhaps in the world of sports Tiger is the most bankable brand ever. The greatest risk that an organization faces when signing up a sports hero is that you never know when the player might lose their “midas touch” leaving the advertisers with burnt fingers. That is not a thought that has had to cross the minds of any of the companies who signed up Tiger Woods to be their brand ambassador. Just one look at the way Tiger has managed to transform the brand value of Nike Golf is an amazing story in itself. They are not the only ones who have decided to renew their association with Tiger.
One cannot think of a better compliment than when a brand chooses to name their product after the person endorsing it. No wonder then that in the biggest growing segment of Energy drinks Gatorade has decided to start a Gatorade Tiger series. Just like for any other company one is sure Gatorade will be raking in the money.
Every cent that he is paid is worth it!
