Options update 1-3-08: Monsanto (MON) volatility up

Monsanto (NYSE: MON) is recently trading at $115.50 in pre-open trading, above its close of $111.47 Wednesday.

MON reported first quarter EPS of 46 cents versus consensus estimates of 35 cents. MON sees 2008 free cash flow guidance to be higher than previously expected.

MON January option implied volatility of 54 is above its 26-week average of 38 according to Track Data, suggesting larger risk.
