Every time I see a "grown up" going through what Roger Clemens is going through with his own personal doping scandal and the incrimination of the Mitchell report, I cannot help but think of the first rule of holes: if you're in one, stop digging. Yesterday Hillary was crying, and Roger has been crying for a week. Neither one will be better off for it.
Roger Clemens is getting a lot of bad advice. Or maybe this is just a part of the Major League persona that does not allow one to back down. I have no idea who did what when, but the more I hear Clemens and his attorneys posturing, the more I think his credibility is shot and the likelihood that he is not being forthright with the facts is a higher probability.
If Pete Rose would have come clean quickly and admitted his failings he would already be in the Baseball Hall of Fame. It is much better to "man up," take the hit, and move on than to "keep digging". His Yankee team mate Andy Pettitte fessed up, said "my bad" and is moving on for better of worse.
Which do you hate more, liars or cheaters? Clemens is going to find out that the thing people hate more than anything else is being lied too. They will forgive almost anything else.
Investing in stocks is not too different. Sometimes you are better off cutting your losses and moving on. You just can't hold out hope that some stocks are going to return to their days of glory, better to cut your losses and move on. Is there anything worse than lying to yourself? Sometimes we do this with our investments.

Maybe we should say all sportcastor, writers of articles like this Owners and Commissioner are rapest or people who have sex with children, because once something is said it is really hard to defend oneself. The real story is why make a fuss now? The Owners of the past, as while as the past Commissioner knew about the drugging that took place, know action then the Owners hire a lactly to write a report to say Players are on steriods and these player are to be diseplined for taking the drugs enough, though the Owners & Commisioner Knew all along, sounds like the White Sox Scandal of the past where the Owners Hired a Commisioner of Baseball to ban the players that took place in the sandal of the World Series but the Owners made Millions of dollars but the players didn't except the players got banned from Baseball for life - the Owners & the Commisioner got in the Hall a Fame of Baseball, their the ones that should have been banned. Just file the report with the trash.

If all you morons would understand the media is nothing but liberal, bias people that have nothing better to do with their lives, this world would be a better place. I am a fan of Roger Clemens and like Nolan Ryan he has kept a vigorous workout to keep in shape throughout his baseball career. As soon as one person claims that another person has done something wrong the media feeds off of that and coninues to dwell on it. Yes Pete Rose lied and then lied again, but I still feel he should be in the Hall of Fame for his statistics on the field. For you liberal people, remember this, people are innocent until proven guilty. Show me the paperwork that proves Clemens used steroids and I will retract all statements. I agree with Clemens that you cannot prove a negative.

Gary,
You are absolutely correct that the owners and players union should not get a pass. "The fish stinks from the head". They tolerated very bad behavior and profited from it. This does not mean that Clemens, A Hall of Fame calibur player should have lerked in the darkness, or that the case against him does not have any credibility.
Sheillah/Mic,
You are wrong. It is not about proving a negative. It is about pride getting in the way of the truth and Clemens cowardice. There is not one case to date of a player that has been acused of using perfomrance enhancing drugs, in the end clearing his name because they did it. Even Bonds is not saying he did not use performance enhancing drugs, only that he was not aware of it at the time. The reason that Clemens is on the hot seat is simply that the case against him seems more credible than his whining. He has followed a narrow winding path of denial in between the cracks and only addressing parts of the report and he waited a week before pleading his case. It is not about proving a negative. It is about everyone coming clean and then we can move on.
If he has been falsely accused he could have faced his accuser head on but instead he has done a lot of flailing in the wind.
