Oprah Winfrey is teaming up with Discovery Communications to create a new network, cleverly titled OWN, the Oprah Winfrey Network.
The network will not carry her trademark Oprah Winfrey Show to start, but since Ms. Winfrey has the option of ending her deal for the show with the networks in 2010 and 2011, she could move the show there then.
Winfrey told reporters that "Eventually that will happen, we hope". Discovery will own half of the network, and Winfrey's production company will own the other half.
Oprah Winfrey moving to her own cable network would, if it does happen, send shock waves through the television industry and create additional problems for the already beleaguered networks. Similar to Radiohead's decision to forgo the major labels and release their album on their own, such a move would send a clear message to the networks: Cable is ubiquitous enough that top stars don't need you: We can do it ourselves and keep a bigger chunk of the money.
It's too soon to know what will happen. The new network could flop, but given Oprah's popularity, I seriously doubt that will happen.

Dear Oprah,
I have written two autobiographical stories.
One is called GOSSIPS OF AN OUTBACK AUSTRALIAN OUTBACK MINING TOWN where I have lived for three years.
The plot is amusing.
The dialogues are very realistics.
The geographical, geological, historical, sociopolitical, ethnic make up of the population as well as explanations of the working of the open iron ore mining operations are strategically incorporated in the narrative.
My encounters with the local fauna are described in great details and the flora is also part of the written work.
I have attached numerous photographs to document and illustrate the story.
The other manuscript is my actual autobiography of which I have written twenty six chapters and I am just twenty four years oldl. I have stopped at that point because my life then was so intricate with a doctor and a lawyer as lovers whilst a sugar daddy from whom I want to obtain a luxury apartmente on one of the most prestigious estates of the Vomero which is on a hill in Naples overlooking the gulf of Naples adorned by the ist three islands; Capri, Procida end Ischia. While I was having such a complicated life in Naples a husband was waiting for me in Australia.
I am an Proficient English teacher and I have read widely, therefore I can assess the worth of a book and my manuscripts are first class writings.
Unfortunately I do not have the funds to have them published. AuthorHouse the owner of which has phoned me asking me why I don't publish my manuscripts needs six hundred and forty five pounds to publish each book.
Infortunately lately I have had several surgical procedure and I am utterly broke.
If you could send me your mailing address I could forward to you the manuscripts and perhaps you would be charitable and help me to publish my precious manuscripts.
Please respond to this e-mail and I will accedpt your decisions.
Kind regards,
Viviana Huwald
