"SEXY." The capital letters blared at me from the window of Victoria's Secret in Pioneer Place here in Portland. Next to the clean lovely windows of the Apple store, I felt I almost had to shield my eyes, to protect me from the glare. The mannequin dressed in a red bustier seemed more Elvira than Rebecca Romijn, the sweet face of Victoria's Secret when I was a loyal customer in my early 20s.I'm not the only one turned off by the company's recent focus on sexy above all else. In rather shocking statements during this morning's Limited Brands Inc. (NYSE: LTD) analyst call, Victoria's Secret CEO Sharen Turney said the company has "gotten too much off our heritage" and was "too sexy," no longer the ideal "ultra-feminine."
With black lacquer and shocking pink decor, the "s" word thrown around like neon signs in a red-light district, and rather unsubtle displays, this isn't my mother's Victoria's Secret.

Jody Powell, 35, hung on to a 12-foot statue of Hannah Montana for the better part of six days to win tickets to a sold-out concert by the Disney Channel star next week in Tampa. "I'm ecstatic. It's like a dream come true," said Powell, holding four tickets to the show and a photo of his fiancee with her 7-year-old daughter, coincidentally named Hannah, who had warned him not to come home without them. Thousands of "Hannah Montana" fans who couldn't get concert tickets are suing the teen performer's fan club over memberships they claim were supposed to give them priority for seats. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of a New Jersey woman and anyone else who joined the Miley Cyrus Fan Club based on its promise that joining would make it easier to get concert tickets from the teen star's Web site. It's not even my Victoria's Secret -- I remember all my friends in high school would save their allowance to afford their girly satin floral underwear and romantic pajamas. Turney plans to change all that, emphasizing seductive over sexy, remodeling and enlarging stores, and "continuing to reinvent" the annual fashion show.
Will the return to girl-next-door and banishment of lady-of-the-night mean a change in Limited Brands' profitability? I think it has potential, although the cost might be more than I'm comfortable with. Standard & Poor's is threatening to reduce the company's debt ratings to "junk" status, and the stock has been on a steady downward trend. It closed today at $15.85, down $1.97, or 11.05%, within striking distance of its 52-week low of $14.82 on January 11.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that the catalog and the store are 2 different companies. That is why you don't find the same things in the catalog at the store.

Too Sexy ? Are you kiddin me ? Sharon Turney looks to be respecfully 60 plus....How can a CEO voice a opinion of this sort when she does not know the trend ? When was the last time she or any of her execs rode the subway or walked the streets of NYC ? Hello ladies-get some rockports and figure it out !
The stock is plummeting because of the disscraceful mail order business. No orders are complete - ever ! thats why everyone is shopping lower end retail for the products that they cant receive via mail

If Victoria's Secret is too sexy for you then you don't need to shop there.
Just because, for some ridiculous reason, it offends you then shop elsewhere and take your prudish tendencies with you.

I have to say Victoria Secret has changed so much. I have been shopping in there for yrs now. I am so sick of bra's that are not feminine! I like bras and underwear be satin, with lace, embrodiery so on, that to me is classy and just sexy. The bra's that are so plain are so boring! Also I agree with many others here, u can never find a nice nightgown at all, or chemise that is real silk. I found one night gown last yr, much to my surprise it was silk also. The nightgowns price was over 100.00 for silk. I mean common! THe prices have gone up so much it is ridiclous, and most of the items are made in China! It was always a tradition to go to victoria secret for my bday and buy myself some nice things. It was my treat, the past 2 yrs I have not bothered. I cannot tell u how many times I have walked in and walked out of the store! Also all the pink crap is just annoying! BUt if the parents did not buy it, then it would go out of style.

After reading the "Old School" VS products many of you were talking about, which I have never seen in the stores myself (although sometimes in the catalogs)....just curious since you say to no longer shop VS....what stores do you now find to have quality silks and satins.

I spend a lot of time selecting lingerie for my GF and use to buy most of it from VS. IMO they have cheapend the look and style of their products and as a result have not purchased anything from them for over a year.

It was only a matter of time for Victoria's Secret to turn itself into Frederick's of Hollywood.
Too bad they couldn't hold on to what is really sexy, and had to go for the cheap and sleazy.

Sexy seductive and tasteful gave way to raunchy
tacky and vulgar.
Gone are the days when an article from Victorias Secret were received with anticipation and smiles.
As the sales are increassed by selling low quality
poor tastless articles for the masses the good taste surely must suffer and the stocks plummeted....
The girls young ladies and ladies of means are going back to the small Boutique with fine few of a kind lingeree pieces but a lot more tasteful original items.
I have not purchassed a gift there in about 4 years
when the decline started.
Sorry to see you go very soon but Corporate greed killed the initial good idea......No one kept an eye in the buyers ... just in the bottom figures.

I don't have a lot of spare time to hand wash a bunch of cheap sateen underwear. They aren't selling anything that any woman needs - just some sort of childish fantasy of actually thinking "you, too" can look like the emaciated models in the catalogue if you buy the stuff. I feel bad that our young girls don't have enough confidence in what they are that they have to dress like they are the main character in some trashy romance novel.

For the last 17 years, I have worn nothing but VS underwear, but lately, I've been looking to switch brands, here's why....all their bras are overpriced and over-padded with too much underwire; also, I buy their cotton panties in bulk 2x/year and every time I go back, they've either change the style I love or cheapened the materials used, or shrunk the sizes altho' my weight have stayed the same; and here's another funny thing I noticed, they keep changing the scents of the lotions even if some are in better demand and popular among the costumers........I used to love the fact that I can wear sexy underwear and be comfortable, now when you visit a VS store, all you see are these ridiculously uncomfortable itsy-bitsy sheer fabric that pass for a thong on display......I am not obese nor old-fashioned but I would not want too walk around all day with a wedgie stuck between my b*tt-crack!!!

I have to agree with hotbody. When i met my girlfriend of 3 years, she was in her usual athletic wear (sweats and a tee shirt) and she still was sexy! I belive that sexy isnt as much about what you have on as it is how well you keep your body and carry yourself.
As far as the stocks are concerned, its quite ironic that sex sales and sexy doesnt.

I USED TO SHOP AT VS . THE LAST TIMES I SHOPPED THERE I WAS VERY DISAPOINTED WITH THE QUALITY OF THE PRODUCT. THE COLORS SEEMED TO FADE IN THE WASH TOO FAST. ALSO THEY HAVE A VERY HIGH MARK UP ON THEIR MERCHANDISE. I'M ALL FOR MAKING A PROFIT BUT COME ON PEOPLE, $46.00 OR MORE FOR A BRA!!!! I DON'T THINK SO. LET'S DO A LITTLE CALCULATING HERE. $46.00(MINIMUM PRICE) X 7 (AT LEAST ONE FOR EACH DAY OF THE WEEK ) = $322.00. ACCORDING TO THE SALES REP. THE LIFE OF THEIR BRA IS 6 MONTHS AND YOU SHOULD EXPECT TO REPLACE IT. $322.00 x 2 (6 MONTHS X 2 =1 YEAR)= $644.00!!!! PLUS TAX !!! AND YOU HAVEN'T BOUGHT ANY UNDERWARE YET!!!! OR ANY OTHER CLOTHING FOR THAT MATTER. I THINK THAT IS RIDICULOUS!!!!! LADIES..... $644.00 PER YEAR PLUS TAX FOR 14 BRAS!!! AND IF YOU USE A VS CREDIT CARD YOU CAN ADD THE 22% INTREST AS WELL....... THINGS THAT MAKE YOU GO HMMMMM.
