Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (NYSE: WMT) has again been placed at the top of the latest annual Fortune 500 list. Released this morning, Wal-Mart was again recognized as being the largest company in the U.S. by revenue, although not by profit. That honor goes to Exxon Mobil Corp. (NYSE: XOM), which made a profit of $40.6 billion in calendar year 2007 compared to Wal-Mart's $12.7 billion.Just two non-oil companies were located in the top five: Wal-Mart and General Motors Corp. (NYSE: GM). If you own an SUV and will be filling up your gas tank today, remember that. Or, if you're pinched for money due to a mortgage reset recently, you'll probably not want to remember it. Point is this: Wal-Mart is raking in more sales than ever, and 2008 probably won't slow down as U.S. consumers everywhere flock to bargains and low prices in the midst of mortgage nightmares, gas prices that are out of control and a shaky economy.
The question is this: will you be shopping at Wal-Mart more this year as the uncertainty of the economy continues to swirl every day? If you are a non-Wal-Mart shopper, will you consider the company as your new friend should the need come to pinch every possible penny? The Bentonville, Arkansas retailer hopes so. It's already placing bets on being at the top of the Fortune 500 yet again a year from now.

Walmart is China's primary slaes rep in the USA. WalMart accounts for a phenomenal *% - 12% of China's TOATL GROSS EXPORTS. Our money goes from WalMart to the Chinese national bank.
WalMart is a primay funnel for the Chinese to receive American dollars. Wasn't Sam Walton's ORIGINAL MOTTO "Made in America" . . . he died and all of that quickly changed.
When you buy "Made in China"you are undeercutting American industries where the U.S. dolars stays in ciruculation in our country . . . for those of you who don't know what this means, then I guess you don't mind the devalued dollar or unemployment in the USA. The "key" is to circulate the dollars in our economy, not theirs.

Yes, americans have been "selling their economic souls" for cheap shoddy products fro many years. That is why the U.S. dollar has been devalued by almost 50% since George Bush became President.
So, for every nickel that you "save" at WalMart, it may be costing you a dollar or two in the long run . . . . maybe even YOUR JOB.
the cost to manufacture the product and a sizable amount of the profits leave our country and become the property of the Chinese . . . lost to investment and benefficial circulation and proudctive use in our economy.
So, "Save a nickel, lose a dollar or two" . . . does that make sense to you?

For all of the naysayers who said "manufacturing in the USA was passe, I would note that per many of the economic reports, "the only bright spot in our economy are the exports of product manufacturered in the USA.
I think that fairly well settles the issues about the importance of manufactureing to our economic wealth and well being.

We bad mouth Wal-Mart buying from China but do any of us drive a foreign car? I don't and I won't. So if any of you Wal-Mart haters do then what does that make you? As bad as WMT maybe?

I have been watching Wal-Mart for the last 25 years I have not purchased a lot of product from them only because I have lived inside major cities. Boston, Cleveland, Detroit, Charlotte and Atlanta. They seem to have deliberately avoided putting stores in large cities until recently the last 5 years. While they have made some less than honorable moves but* I have yet to see them bring a knife to a gun fight. They know their business they also know their competition. More important they know who they are. They realize the best defense is a good offense. They are Top Dog* and by the way they do have a temper.

Walmart strives on the failure of the USA economy, but lets think here. Walmart is stealing from us Americans. With high gas prices there is no way that a company can survive selling goods at low cost. This is an a company that has issues hidden in the closet which will come out soon and it is not organize at all. You can say that gas is more and milk cost more cause of walmart. The bad media you hear about this company is true.
