How to compare the two dominant pizza brands, Yum! Brands Inc.'s (NYSE: YUM) Pizza Hut vs. Domino's Pizza Inc. (NYSE: DPZ)?
Most annoying ads? The wing man series by Pizza Hut is a recent annoyance, but Domino's still, in my mind, has not lived down the ignominy of its Noid commercials in the 1980s.
Most obscene side-dishes? What in the hell are dipping strips? Like we don't realize they're just pizza dough with goo indistinguishable from the plaque clogging our arteries. Bad Pizza Hut! Bad!
Size? Pizza Hut -- 12,800 outlets in 90 countries. Domino's -- 8,624 outlets in 55 countries.
Corporation? Domino's is dwarfed by Yum! Brands, owner of Pizza Hut as well as Taco Bell and KFC.
Taste? (Subjectivity warning) I'm rarely in the mood for tomato sauce smeared on cardboard, so I'm not a regular Domino's customer. In fact, I don't accept the notion that delivery pizza is anything but the sad yokel cousin of the real, hot from the oven pie. Since Domino's made its nut in the delivery business while Pizza Hut has sit-down locations, on this factor alone I declare the Hut the clear winner in this battle of the brands.
Vote in our poll for Pizza Hut or Domino's as your preferred brand, and let us know in the comments why you love it.

Pizza Hut has always been one of my favorites, even though they may be alittle more expensive. Anymore, most pizza's are getting more expensive. As far as Domino's Pizza, Thank God I did not have to pay for it. I have been offered Dominos 3 separate times and each time it was not good! And yes, the crust taste like card board and the sauce like tomato sauce. We have so many pizza places around here and Domino's is at the bottom of our list. Pizza Hut and Little Caesars is at the top, with maybe Marco's. There are a couple others I would like to try but even with there specials cost to much!

As an Italian, originally from NY, I don't consider either one real "pizza" .Just as Hispanic people consider "Taco Bell" real mexican food. They both are better than frozen pizza, I agree. The closest that they came to something I like is Domino's "Brooklyn" pizza.

they are both disgusting!!! The only time I have ever eaten these discs with tomato soup and plastic cheese as I was traveling down south and there was no other choice, as you realize there are no REAL pizzaria's outside of the northeast.
Whomever eats this junk and thinks it is good has no taste or just hasn't had real pizza,i.e from Brooklyn or the Bronx.

the old phase to consider here is "You get what you pay for" In just about every neighborhood in America, you'll find a good Italian restaurant, that makes close to authentic NY or Chicago pizza.
Sure its gonna cost a few bucks more than P.H. or DOM. but do you want real pizza? My favorite quote is "Life's too short to drink cheap champagne" Now you can substitute for the champagne, beer, wine, or eat cheap pizza. If you never tasted real pizza, and you're satisfied with the cheaper American pizza, then by all means stay with them. One word of advice, if you do want to expand your taste, and go to a "true" Italian pizzeria, don't ask for pineapple on your pie, you might get "whacked"

Calling Domino's tomato sauce smeared on cardboard isn't fair to cardboard. I think they make it this way so that when their delivery persons round the corner at 50 MPH it won't move.

I use to like Pizza Hut but several years ago traveling and ordered in pizzas to be delivered at our hotel. They were the worse pizzas we have ever had and have never wanted another since and can't watch their commericals. In our town we have Dino's Pizza and just love it. Never tried Domino's.

Pretty much all pizza's leave a lot to be desired these days. I am not a person who comments on things I see on the internet, but this one needs a comment. I haven't had a really good pizza since the early 70's when they were made with fresh (and real) ingredients. The only way I would eat a pizza today is if I was starving and it was free.

You can't beat pizza from the local pizza shop and some do deliver. And it MAY be better than any chain. However, if given a choice between Pizza Hut and Domino's, I'll pick Domino's every time! Why? I've been to Pizza Hut in three states and have yet to find one that wasn't dirty and grease covered! (They keep the dining area dimly lit so you can't see the filth!) And if you want cardboard crust, Pizza Hut's just the place to find it. Frozen crust is more appetizing and we all know how awful that is! Pizza Hut...YUCK!

The public simply does not know any better.
If one has never had a REAL slice of pizza to begin with, how would one know that Pizza Hut and Dominos' serve a pale imitation of the real deal.
Chains such as Pizza hut, Domino's and Olive Garden have managed to destroy all the wonderful Italian/American gastronomic creations and contributions to our culture.
Domino's, Pizza Hut and Olive Garden are miserable imposter's and have added significantly to the cultural murder of true beauty.
Their executives should all be imprisoned in a newly created Bastille for Barbaric Cultural Vulgarians, for they have truly contributed to the decline of civilization.

Personally Domino's tastes way better than the Pizzahuts in Valdosta.
The P.H pizzas down here are compairable to a rubber tire. as there is hardly No sause, they hardly put any toppings, its normally cold and tough when you get it.
Dominos wins hands down with me.

My son owns a pizza place here in our small town. The difference between his and the two you mention, is we use real cheese, real toppings, and plenty of them. Our pizza sizes are bigger than theirs, so even if our large cost more, you are getting nearly a third more. Our medium is bigger than their large. We offer coupons that actually make ours less than either of the above, also our coupons never have an expiration date, so if you can find one, you can use it.
If you want a good pizza and you in the KC area, drive out to the country and try Regie Ray's. It is worth it if you are a real pizza lover.

The best pizza that I ever tasted, despite claims of New York and Boston, is found at Ledo's Restaurant in Adelphi, MD. they stil cook it on slate ovens and the ingrdients ore baked over an unusual flaky cheese based crust. Their satellite franchhises while very good, do not match their home base, most probably due to faster cooking within convector ovens. Try it for a five star delightful taste.
