McCartney's last world tour six years ago saw him earn £63million in over half the number of shows. The upcoming tour went into planning stages after McCartney's divorce from Heather Mills was finalized in March. Beatrice, his child with Mills, is four now and according to sources he does not want to be away for long periods of time during her childhood. Following the tour's completion he plans to "settle down" and it "will be the last time he performs in many parts of the world."
The former Beatle's world tours tend to stray into other areas than simple concert shows and money from ticket and merchandise sales. The tour six years ago was also released and celebrated with two live albums, one for the American market and one for international markets. A live DVD was also released, but his last tour of the United States also received a DVD release in 2006. The possibility of this tour being in the public awareness for much longer than two years is obviously probable. McCartney and his management plan to announce the first dates and legs of the tour in a matter of weeks.

Why not retire and settle down now. Does he really need the money?

How much fame and fortune does a man need to be satisfied? John Lennon seemed mostly satisfied by age 35. If only he'd stayed retired...

As a musician, It's not about the money. When what you are is music, it's hard to quit. I know. I'm 63 and it's difficult being home more now and on the road less, and yet, it's not bad either. Just hard to totally quit. More power to ya Paul!

I for one am delighted that Paul is making this
momentous tour later this year! Having been a Beatle fan since 1964 I have been longing to go to one of Paul's concerts! It's not about the money, it's about the music, and Paul is a rock legend, who no other artist can hold a candle to.

He certainly isn't concerned about money.Simply put, Paul loves music and performing.I've been a Beatles fan since day one when they appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show(1964).His reality check is he knows he's older and time is precious,as fans we can't be selfish. We will still love him, working or retired. We love YOU, PAUL!!!!
