T. Boone Pickens dedicating $58 million to alternative energy marketing
T. Boone Pickens has been in the national media quite a bit lately. The Texas oil billionaire, who now commands a hedge fund in Dallas, has given hundreds of millions to his alma mater -- Oklahoma State -- and now is spending nearly $58 million of his own money to convince the U.S. to get off foreign oil and into alternative energy. Pickens is 80 now -- he is obviously not doing this for the money. Should we listen to him? Based on his outstanding business history, I'd say yes.
The oilman with decades of experience in energy futures and hedging predictions seems like he has turned his back on oil -- the precious juice that made him his fortune. But when someone with the successful past of Pickens says that the U.S. can't drill its way to success with more oil, we should probably listen.
Pickens began lighting up the media this week with advertisements on radio, in newspapers, on television and even a Facebook page and a complete YouTube channel. Picken's Plan is to reduce American dependence on foreign oil by one-third over the next ten years -- and he's fronting a good start off with his own money, which he's pouring mostly into wind energy. In fact, Pickens announced the world's largest wind farm last year, which he plans to build in Texas. Pickens, never one to not speak his mind, said "This whole thing, all it can do is get worse ... the only thing that could turn it around is global recession."

I am following Mr. Pickens story very closely and coming from a former oil man adds some bite to his message. I sent an email to his organization that the only draw-back is that these wind-powered structures or windmills are definitive eye-sores especially when you drive through Tecachapi/Mohave and Livermore, CA. PCB disposal is another issue but probably resolvable. His message is correct and powerful.

It is very clear and it has been for many years that we slowly been selling out and our dependance is now foriegn based. In Brazil, this oil problem was seen and managed many years in advance and a gallon of gas is less than .12 cents due to their production of sugar cane and formation of its use instead of gas alone. It is compliant with existing vehicles and a small adaptor.
It makes us look foolish to have done nothing when this situation was obvious. I am so sure that they are laughing at our delemna overseas. especially since within our own borders is the answer to our problems. But we all watch the oil prices rise and still we gasp and spend millions of dollars trying to find the correct answer. we are slowly making the general public poor. Too expensive to even go to work. too expensive to buy the proper foods with the cost of gas adding to the plight. Where will our children end up in 20 years?
Disheartened on the inaction of the powers that be - why? because they can afford to banter back and forth where the working stiff must search his pockets for the gas to get to work each day.

Mr. Pickens or anyone else, I wouldd like to bring your attention to one more energy source which is magnetic power. In 1978 Howard R. Johnson applied for and was granted U.S. Patent #4,151,431 dated April 24, 1979. It explains how magntics can be used to generatemotive power, as in a motor. Articles in Science & Mechanics spring 1980 give a very good rundown about Mr. Johnsonand his inventions. Also, Popular Science,June1979 tells about a magnetic "Wankel engine. Why was this use of magneitcs not developed in the past 29 years. Some one with the money needs to get this technology moving for our future. I have the book and articals and a copy of the patent in a safe place. I'll fax them to anyone who wants a copy. I am going to fax or give a copy to at least at least a dozen people. The reason I am doing this is for my own protection.

I wonder if anyone has tried to use an electromagnet to move the pistons in a conventional motor. I believe that if you had an aluminum cast motor (or cylinders perhaps lined with lead) the pistons could be moved by the repelling power of magnets, thus utilizing existing motors and eliminating all emissions. Talk about reducing this countries dependency on foreign oil...? I may be fooling myself but I believe this could be accomplished and I would be willing to work toward this end (given the financial support necessary) Contact me at; ogle952@aol.com or d.ogle73@yahoo.com 770-385-5016

Hey I posted this video on my website projectgreen.50webs.com and I am glad to see some supporters, but even consideration and debate is good. Check out my site for tips on how to go green :) Find this thread link at my site
