Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) says it sold one million 3G iPhones in its first three days on the market. Some analysts believe that company could sell 20 million of them in the next year.
One of the reasons some people waited for the new 3G version of the phone is that it runs on AT&T's (NYSE: T) faster wireless broadband network. The older version, which ran on the 2.5G network, could be very slow linking to the internet.
Now that over a million people have their faster phones, they may find that there are a lot of places they won't work. AT&T's 3G network is concentrated in large cities. Even in those urban areas and their suburbs, there are a lot of dead spots. At least a couple of those are within a short drive from the Apple and AT&T headquarters.
For people taking their iPhones to Las Vegas, the coverage is extremely good. Anyone taking a vacation to Vermont, New Hampshire, Wyoming, or Montana is out of luck. (For a more complete list of places the new 3G iPhone won't work, visit 247wallst.com.)

Please tell me you're smarter than that. I think you're just trolling for more hits with the title and content of this article. You talk about places where the 3G iPhone won't work when you are really referring to places where it will use 2.5G because 3G isn't available. Or maybe you are just a fool.

@Waide Allen - Thank you.
Bloggers are eating up this 247wallst.com article that alludes to the iPhone "not working" where there is no 3G service...which is completely untrue. It is very similar to saying a Porsche would not work on roads that have a speed limit under 30 mph. It obviously still would, it's just not quite as much fun.

Looks like my comment pointing out the glaring inaccuracies of this post was deleted. Very professional.
As Waide mentioned, the iPhone works were there is no 3G coverage, it is just not as fast.
Not understanding why bloggers are buying into the 247wallst.com article that alludes to the iPhone *not* working, just because you cannot access data at 3g speeds...

Doug, based on the number of your utterly insipid and negative posts concerning Apple there is one place I'd like to test the new 3G IPhone that I'm sure reception would be fairly poor but given the intense pressure it would most likely be subjected to I might end-up with a diamond. If Apple will donate the phone I'll gladly place it in that area. Also, and here's the operative part of the post, if I can travel to and get service in any of the aforementioned states, counties, hamlets, or burgs listed by 247wallst.com you will pay me $20K plus travel. If I can't I'll pay for all travel and give you $20K. So what do you say tough guy? I'll drive to Vermont from DC, 555 miles from downtown DC to Burlington, just for you to keep it cheap because you know you're wrong.

Doug, don't read Barron's "Tech Trader Daily" today.
Sadly, the IPhone works in rural Vermont.
When the green flag drops the bs stops.
