'The tech world has been waiting for the one of the more natural technological marriages to happen. I'm talking about merging the useful functionality of hand-held GPS devices with the mobile phone.

"Along with that anticipation has been the speculation of which cell phone maker Garmin would team up. The mystery is over! Instead of teaming up with somebody, Garmin itself is entering the cell phone business.

"The company will leap into the mobile phone market during the third quarter of 2008 with its new Nuvifone - a one-of-a-kind communication tool, because it has all the bells and whistles of the iPhone plus Garmin's great navigation system.

"Garmin's voice-prompted, turn-by-turn navigation system ... real-time traffic and weather reports ... fuel price information ... and a new 'Where am I?' function that displays the exact latitude and longitude coordinates, the nearest address and intersection, as well as the closest hospitals, police stations and gas stations.

"The system has a beautiful 3.5-inch touch screen that offers full Internet web surfing capabilities, built-in video camera, plus MP3 and MPEG4 video players, and a full Google search engine.

"There isn't a phone on the market, including the Apple iPhone, that offers the suite of functions that the Nuvifone does. Once consumers see 'em in the stores, I believe these babies will fly off the shelves.

"The timing - right before the holiday selling season - is perfect, too. The cell phone market is crowded, but the Nuvifone could be a gigantic winner for Garmin. We consider the stock a buy."
