Bubbles and fries: Burger King employee takes bath in kitchen sink

Ever wonder what the geniuses who work at fast food restaurants do when they want to amuse themselves? How about take a bubble bath in the nude in the kitchen sink, video tape it and post it on YouTube? Welcome to Burger King's (NYSE: BKC) public relations nightmare.

It seems that this caper was the bright idea of a Burger King employee who goes by the name "Mr. Unstable." With his tattoos and punk rock hairdo circa 1985, the moniker suits him well. From what I could gather from the low-quality sound on the video, Mr. Unstable wanted to get clean for his birthday. Amazingly, none of the employees at the restaurant thought this was unusual enough to tell the manager.

In fact, they told the manager that everything was cleaned up while the video camera was rolling. I guess she was too dumb to realize something was up. The employees involved were fired. Let's hope the remainder got IQ tests.

The video made the rounds of the internet and came to the attention of the county health commissioner, who was, of course, horrified.

When a local TV station contacted Burger King about this incident, a company flack emailed the following statement:

"Burger King Corp. was just notified of this incident and is cooperating fully with the health department. We have sanitized the sink and have disposed of all other kitchen tools and utensils that were used during the incident. . . . We have also taken appropriate corrective action on the employees that were involved in this video. Additionally, the remaining staff at this restaurant is being retrained in health and sanitation procedures."

They also might add training to avoid hiring employees who call themselves "Mr. Unstable."

Back off. That's not likely the worse thing that could happen "after hours" where high-energy workers gather. Just clean it up and move on. It has nothing to do with BK, the management, or even President Bush or former presidential candidate Obama. Can't even blame Bill Clinton for this one.

This is nothing, who cares, i've done worse and seen worse working fast food. Not to mention what do you want for 8bucks and hr. Most fast food places are just happy that you showed for your shift. And tothe guy who said and "this clown passed a drug test..." they don't test fast food empolyees. the turn over is to high and the managers are just as stoned as the empolyees.

I felt bad when I got laid off from a good job. How much of a moron do you have to be to get fired from a BK? The sad thing is looking at him he would refer to that as the "good job" he used to have. Im sure mom and dad take him to all their functions to show off what a fine lad they turned out... then again maybe they voluntarily drove off a bridge together. This is proof that family planning should be law, and reproducing should require a license just like marriage and driving.

The manager obviously has something "going on" with this guy. She knew...and didn't care. I wonder if people had pubic hairs in their food that day, or the next.

Does anyone really think this is the 1st stunt at this Burger King? No way! The "manager" was way too laid back....

Guess Burger King and other fast food establishments get what they pay for, a minimum wage just doesn't attract many studious or well adjusted people. Higher pay may help but just taking a good look at what or who you're hiring would certainly help.

actually it is the guy in the sink who should get sanitized. remember all those health code ratings are based solely on the day that the health inspector was there. next day, it's mr. bubble for mr. unstable in the mcsink. mcyuck.

Don't click on # 18- BRAD... it is a virus... they sneak in other topics and ruin your pc..... The guy got clean.. lets hope he had anti-bacterial soap...
germs are prevelant enough without someone's butt in the sink... do you think he had a disease ? Yrs. ago pple had blood tests my grandma said.. before they could work at restaurants....hairnets..
and we wonder about samonella... fast food can be clean...or nasty...other food places also.. be careful what you eat !

Oh wow! This guy is obviously a serious threat to Obese America's food supply! lol Fast food is cheap, greasy, and bad for you so I wouldn't worry too much about a guy in a sink. The money you use to pay for the food he cooks is covered in more germs than his entire body. This video would be a great advertising piece for Sylvan Learning Center though. He reminds me of Puck from Real World.

I agree with Maria. I thought it was kind of funny. And it would not keep me from going to a Burger King. There are way worse things going on in most kitchens than some silly guy taking a bath in the sink. Lighten up folks.
