While vultures continue to circle around the body of consumer electronics retailer Circuit City Stores, Inc. (NYSE: CC), the company is at least trying to look alive even though much of the world has left it for dead. Circuit City's latest travail is offering "back to school tips" to concerned parents, who, after reading Circuit City's tips-as-a-marketing-press-release, must think the retailer is on its last leg.Apparently, many retailers believe the majority of the American public are seasonal procrastinators. The "rush to back to school" is not really a rush more than a shopping highlight for many retailers from apparel to computers to shoes to notebooks (the paper kind).
Circuit City's latest effort states some statistics as a lead-in for customers to come into their local Circuit City and shop for PCs and all the related garb that goes with them. As in, printers and ink and thumb drives ... oh my.
Circuit City's parting shot in its "back to school" montage was the mentioning of a gift card. In fact, you can email a gift card from your PC to your college student! Wow, how 2001-ish! I'm just confused on why Circuit City even participated in a "duh" survey like this to drum up a rather lackluster press release from a company that couldn't manage itself out of a shoebox.

I used to work at Deep Run 3 building at Circuit City' s Corporate HQ (5th floor-accounting)
It is no surprise that they are going to the dogs because of the mis-management I witnessed in my 1 1/2 years there. They only gave supervisor / department head positons to those with a 4 year degree-no consideration to those who had a 2 year and 15 years experience in high volume retail.

Good short trash talk but worthless commentary, what is the commentators background in retail? I presume none .Since he offers none. It appears he lost his job at a CC store and now he thinks his blogging has some value without any objective analysis of the company's fundamentals. This article is a waste of time for the reader, and is indicative of a blogger with too much time on hands.

Management at CC is horrible no wonder why they are going under, as their former Firedog technician, i experienced the most shady business of all time, at my store the sales associates used to add extra small items and one penny Firedog services to increase our depend. Since my store is located in a wealthy area most of the customers never looked at their receipt but when people questioned the extra charge the sales associate claimed it was included with the service.

I can't believe Circuit City is still in business. The last 2 times I visited their store it was the worse experience I ever had.

I was in a CC store yesterday. I am buying a 52" flatscreen TV and am having it installed by their firedog techs. I'm just concerned about my warranty exposure should CC go under. I was thinking about an extended warranty but now I'm wondering if it will be honored should CC not be around soon. Any commentary from current or past CC employees would be appreciated.
