Analyst upgrades:
- Stephens upgraded shares of Ann Taylor (NYSE: ANN) to Overweight from Equal Weight to reflect the company's restructuring program, reductions in inventory and share repurchase program.
- AIMCO (NYSE: AIV) was upgraded to Buy from Hold at Deutsche Bank.
- UBS upgraded D.R. Horton (NYSE: DHI) to Neutral from Sell.
- Argus believes BigBand Networks (NASDAQ: BBND) is succeeding by adding new customers and driving new business with existing customers. Shares were upgraded to Buy from Hold.
- ThinkPanmure expects Capella Education (NASDAQ: CPLA) to attract students at a faster rate in the coming quarters and to improve operating margins. The firm raised shares to Buy from Accumulate and raised its target to $60 from $62.
- Advanced Medical (NYSE:EYE) was lifted to Hold from Underperform at Jefferies.
Analyst downgrades:
- Boeing (NYSE: BA) was added to Goldman's Conviction Sell List.
- BT Group (NYSE: BT) was downgraded to Hold from Buy at Citigroup and ING Group.
- Liberty Interactive (NASDAQ: LINTA) was cut to Equal Weight from Overweight at Barclays citing deterioration in the QVC business, high debt and valuation.
- Barnes Group (NYSE: B) was downgraded to Neutral from Outperform at Baird.
- Roth Capital downgraded shares of AtriaCure (NASDAQ: ATRC) to Hold from Buy pending greater clarity on the Department of Justice investigation. The firm lowered their target to $6.50 from $15.
- Keybanc downgraded CBRL Group (NASDAQ: CBRL) to Underweight from Hold. The firm cites the de-leveraging impact from inflated commodity prices and the mmore significant downturn in the economy to impact SSS more than previously anticipated.
Analyst initiations:
- Deutsche Bank expects Watson Wyatt's (NYSE: WW) organic growth to slow due to cost cutting by clients. Shares were initiated with a Hold rating and $45 target.
- KeyBanc initiated Hexcel (NYSE: HXL) with a Hold rating and $20 target.
- Lender Processing (NYSE: LPS) was assumed with an Equal Weight rating at Morgan Stanley.
