So what do you do for fun when you're worth $600 million? Gambling is one option. Though the thought of sitting in front of a slot machine in Vegas and feeding it quarter after quarter might be less than appealing for some, I suppose it would be different if each pull on the bandit's arm cost $1,000. And even if you don't need another penny in your bank account, it still might be kind of fun when the bells ring and the lights flash as you hit the jackpot.
This is what happened to multi-millionaire Candy Spelling this past year. She was reportedly playing high limit slots at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas when she hit the jackpot. Her payout? A cool $180,000. (Though as TMZ points out, that's the equivalent of about $8 to us ordinary proles.)
Candy is of course the wife of legendary television producer Aaron Spelling, creator of such eternal classics as The Boy in the Plastic Bubble, Charlie's Angels, and Beverly Hills 90210, among many others. Together, the Spellings created another classic: their daughter Tori, actress and tabloid all-star. Aaron Spelling died in 2006, leaving an estate worth over half a billion dollars, famously controlled by his wife but not Tori.
Candy Spelling seems to be riding quite a lucky streak. In addition to marrying a man who became fabulously wealthy, she has a knack for winning in games of chance. A year before her $180,000 jackpot, she reportedly won $200,000 playing a different machine at the Bellagio. And she apparently once won a car at her own charity raffle.
As unfair as it may be, it does seem that some people have all the luck -- though only one of us has Tori Spelling for a daughter. Maybe it all works out in the end.

What a great article, and especially your profound thought, that yes, some people really do have all the luck. What a refreshing idea, after all the nonsense being pedaled to the masses by Oprah Winfrey and the writers of "The Secret" suggesting that all you have to do is think positive thoughts and you too can be rich, or have what ever you want. Yeah tell that to the people suffering in Africa, or the innocent citizens living with war in their countries, or to all who are losing their jobs and homes in our country! If they only knew it was as easy as positive thinking!
Pleeease!
BUT! I hated your mean spirited comment about Tori Spelling ... I would love to have her as a daughter. She seems like a wonderful woman. SO THERE!

She donates a car for a charity auction and then purchases a raffle ticket and wins it back???? Boy, I'm glad I didn't purchase for THAT charity!!! What a scam!! Give some of your money to your daughter (and grandkids!). Poor Tori, having to grow up with a witch of a mom! There must be alot of "Mommie Dearest" stories in 'celebrityville'!!!!

Hope you're reading this and refer to Joy's comment! She is right! Tori seems like a wonderful person! I wish I knew her and have her as my friend! I know we could be like "sisters"!

Candy, I hope your enjoying your money and the car you won back, while everyone else is suffering financially or awaiting (long periods of time) for God to bless them financially.... Enjoy while you can, everything here on this earth is temporary! Life is too short to be greedy and mean-spirited and making enemies with your daughter!(If you are so smart while hoarding money, you know what I mean!)

Candy is very lucky to have all that money to keep her warm at night. She has nothing else. I know how Tori feels, my mother is the same why. She always puts other people or herself first. Thats happened all my life. I would never do that to my children, I love them with all my heart, and everything that is mine is their's to. TO CANDY:MONEY CAN'T BUY YOU LOVE. GO GET RIGHT WITH YOUR DAUGHTER.

SLOT MACHINE: I play the quarter machine, 5 coin max and so I am playing $1.25 per pull. Last year I won $1,000. jackpot, the max prize. If Candy is playing $1,000 per pull High Stakes Slots the max payout should have been $800,000.00. Winning $190,000 or $200,000 on a $1,000 a pull slots happens pretty often. When you consider I might let myself get in for up to $200 per session, Candy probably walks away at times down $160,000.00. That is only being down by 160 pulls over the number of pulls you won. She wins big and LOSES BIG. Just the way the odds are. But she gets more free buffets than I do!

Good for her. What most people don't realize is how much she has probably put in those machines over the years. You don't win jackpots like that very often playing quarter machines. If she's got the monet to play a 1000 a yank then who are we to complain. They don't build those big hotels on people winning all the time. It's basic sense. I can assure you that she probaly has lost just as much over the years playing. Plus you get to pay Uncle Sam an average of 30 %. You can only deduct your losses up to a certain point. More garbage media to upset the masses without all the info. Damn the rich, the new motto!!! Souns like jealousy to me

The writer has obviously never been to The Bellagio...all the slots are coinless, using vouchers only with $$ credits on them.

Candy is deserving of everything she has. I feel bad as our children are our greatest wealth, I too have a child that won't communicate. Very difficult to fathom and understand?
