ExxonMobil Corp. (NYSE: XOM) is scheduled to discuss fourth-quarter and year-end 2008 results tomorrow, January 30, in a conference call at 11:00 AM ET hosted by David Rosenthal, vice president -- investor relations. You can catch the live audio webcast of the call on the company's website.
For the quarter that saw a settlement with the EPA and DOJ, analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expect Exxon to report a profit of $1.45 per share, compared to $2.13 per share in the same period of the previous year. Revenue for the quarter is expected to total $69.1 billion, down 40.7% from a year ago. Exxon's earnings fell short of estimates in three of the past five quarters, by as much as 9.7%.
For the full year, analysts expect earnings of $8.41 per share and revenue of $456.9 billion, compared to $7.28 per share on $404.6 billion in 2007.
Analysts, on average, expect Exxon's long-term EPS growth to be only 7.9%, which is less than that of the S&P 500, but better than rival BP (NYSE: BP). Yet the consensus recommendation has been to buy XOM for more than 90 days. Barrons likes Exxon as well, but Jim Cramer is more cautious. The share price has risen about 3% in the past three months, but it is still about 9% lower it was than a year ago. Exxon recently declared another $0.40 per share quarterly dividend.

ExxonMobil is not an oil company. only 1.45% of its income is from oil. There is no such thing as Exxon gasoline. There is no such thing as an Exxon gas station. Exxon has sold all of its stations to local people who runs them.
68% of ExxonMobil's income comes from foreign sources. The US income comes from chemical busineses. Just look into ExxonMobil's annual report. The price of gasoline is of little interest to ExxonMobil
