Growth Matters: Mister Wong is Europe's social bookmarker

More

With all the gloom in the global economy, I got to wondering whether there is anything else going on in the world of business. I'm looking for growth because I think that's what will ultimately bring the economy out of the doldrums. Not surprisingly, that growth is coming from technology companies. In Growth Matters, I look at consumer technology companies that point the way to growth trends -- and in the process introduce services and products you may want to explore.

If you're overwhelmed by all the new content on the Web and want your friends' help to sort through it, then Mister Wong may be just what you need. I interviewed Christian Clawien, press spokesperson for Mister Wong, who said "Mister Wong enables the saving of favorite websites with the use of personal tags. With an individual account, one has access to their bookmarks online regardless of whether at home, university, Internet café, at work, or even via mobile."

Clawien continued, "Bookmarks can be saved privately or publicly. Through all the saved bookmarks, a human regulated directory of websites is created, which can, in many ways, deliver better search results than the classical search engines and is excellent for surfing and inspiration."

Mister Wong is one of Germany's largest websites and advertisers pay to get access to the people who make it big. According to Clawien, "In Germany, Mister Wong is in the top 40 of all websites that offer advertisement. According to an independent German statistics service, AGOF (Institute for Research on Online Usage), www.mister-wong.de has more than 2.55 million unique users per month."

If you're looking for a way to make sense of the Web, Mister Wong may have the answers you need.
