The bulls just keep running. So much so that even the bears have started wearing horns and fake hooves so that they fit in a little better. A tame CPI figure on consumer inflation helped things steady and then a less-bad homebuilder survey allowed the run to continue higher. Oil prices ramped up on lower crude inventories as well. General Electric Company (NYSE: GE) has become the new bull-market proxy hitting post-crash highs and heading toward that $20.00 handle. This was the key benchmark stock for the bulls as it traded 250% normal volume. This one was up almost 6% at $16.93 right before the closing bell.
Kraft Foods Inc. (NYSE: KFT) did not take notice that Warren Buffett said they were using an undervalued currency and paying top dollar for Cadbury plc (NYSE: CBY). Shares were up 1% at $26.35 shortly before the closing bell.
Oracle Corp. (NASDAQ: ORCL) was weak all day ahead of its earnings. Shares were down almost 2.5% at $22.10 ahead of the closing bell. The consensus estimates from Thomson Reuters are $0.30 EPS and $5.25 billion in revenues.
Adobe Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: ADBE) had a very rough day after earnings and after announcing a $1.8 billion buyout of Omniture. There is at lease a small concern that Adobe or another bidder might pay more. Adobe shares were down over 6% at $33.33 shortly before the closing bell.
Flextronics International Ltd. (NASDAQ: FLEX) was higher this morning after Jim Cramer touted this one last night on CNBC's MAD MONEY after he said that the EMS operation is trading at just 12 times 2011 earnings and said he's a buyer of the stock. Shares were up 7.6% at $7.46 ahead of today's closing bell.
Keryx Biopharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: KERX) rose sharply as today's top biotech winner after announcing that perifosine in the North American market received an FDA orphan-drug designation for this compound for the treatment of multiple myeloma. Keryx shares were up 51% at $2.36 right before today's closing bell.
