Muslim teen sues Abercrombie over its 'Look Policy'

ohh plzz guys stop being too biasedd! just because a muslim girl decides to sue this time EVERYONE starts complaining "mann muslims want their own way" what about al the other times when other people complained about the discriminating look policy that a&f has? just because a muslim files against them doesnt suddenly make this policy ok to have. stop being so biased and keep your opinion the same regardless of what religion the girl is from.

In my religion we (women) wear only below-the-knee dresses, but I agree completely with ANF: they have a certain look they want to promote and I obviously wouldn't fit in. ANF has the right to dictate how their 'representatives' look, just as much as any other place of employment who might require the wearing of uniforms.

If she doesn't like the way things are done in the good old US of A, send her back to one of the Muslim countries where she can dress as her religion dictates.

The lawsuit is totally ridiculous and suits like this will force us Americans out of a job. If she wins she will be laughing all the way to the bank. Wake up America.

Funny, I thought in countries which practice strict Muslim teachings don't allow women to work outside the home, or even drive!

I don't like A & F at all, but they should be able to hire whom every they want. I will never buy anything from them and I hate their adds , but I say, let them burn themselves into oblivian as they are doing. Who gives a flying puck???

She should dress the way we Americans dress for, we have to wear headscarves if we went over to their country. you could not say 'I am going to sue if you make me wear that scarf'. you would go to jail or be killed.

Part of any specialty retail stores' employment goal is to hire staff to sell alot of their clothes. You have to wear it to sell it. And, the csutomer needs to be able to see how it looks on the sales person/living clothes hanger.

This store caters to kids ages 7 to 14. The hajib is not the style these kids and their parents are looking to purchase.

What about a non-specialty chain like JC Penny's, May Co, Sears, Macy's etc. They don't promote one look. They have many different lines to promote. She would fit in there much better.

What about a stock position or night crew? You don't need to model the clothes if you aren't in contact with the customers.

The store should be free to hire staff who will help them achieve their sales goals with the least amount of drama.

All I can say is make your money and work hard now and try to get out of this country in 20-25 years or sooner if possible. Now you can discriminate against whites, Just not any other race. The basis for the above mentioned lawsuit goes well beyond a religous reason. Why did Abercrombie and Fitch have to pay 50 Million a few years ago, Because they catered to white people? WTF?, Try suing a Black or Muslim establishment because they cater to Blacks or muslims ( Yea, Lots Of luck if your the white plaintiff anyway). It's not being racist it's just the truth. This country is heading torwards disaster and thats why you need to be proactive if your white.

The Muslim girl wants a job in a mall? If she were a "true" Muslim, according to material I have read, she would be kept secluded at home unless escorted by a close male relative, and not be educated.

Another Muslim woman applied for a driver's license but insisted on wearing a burka (or wahatever) that completely covered her face except for the eyes. You call that a photo ID? In most Muslim countries, she would not be allowed to drive a vehicle. I remember that in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, our female soldiers were not allowed to drive U.S. Army vehicles in their line of duty. O.K., let them make the rules in THEIR country, and let us make the rules here in the U.S.A. Let's see her wear a crucifix and apply for a job in Saudi Arabia. Sharia law would get her horse-whipped in public, if not beheaded.

Perhaps she should apply somewhere more fitting like a job as a suicide bomber in Palestine. All these muslims in our country need to go starting with Cheif Barry Hussein Obama. Islam is incompatible with our civilization.

You know there are "reasonable limits" to this argument. Throughout the comments I have seen arguments that claim that coming to the same store dressed in full Jewish (or any other culture's, for that matter) garb and demanding a job is just as ridiculous this case.

The only question here is if the hijab is promoting a religion (which in my opinion it is not, it may not even be her personal choice to wear it, I have heard of many cases where women are forced by their parents to wear it) and whether or not it actually handicaps Elauf's ability to be a model (i.e. do her job). If it does do so, then the lawsuit should be overturned.

Personally, I don't think it would handicap her ability to do her job, but I'm no expert on this. Also, has anybody invoked Godwin's Law yet? The comments are pretty bad.

If there is FUBU promoting black interests it's ok, the opposite is not ok (that is promoting white interest). Why? because this country is built on promoting white folks interests. By law, there must be a reverse discrimination to cure the problem caused by racism in the past, this is the opinion of the Supreme Court. For the morons writing at the top go read the law. The law is not what makes sense to you monkeys who don't even know how to spell (idiot spelling shareholders - share holders - shareholder is one word) we certainly do not want people who speak ONE SINGLE language that is English and yet don't manage to spell it correctly to tell us how the country should be run. Furthermore policies against discrimination are sweeping rules applied on all businesses, once you open the door based on some stupid reason anybody can discriminate against anyone for any reason. Remember how black people were refused service in restaurants in the past, we need a rule that fixes the problem. Girl wearing veil is not imposing her view on anyone. The store promoting only whites instead of minorities not because minorities are forcing their religions on the store, but only because the store management is racist. Although a lot of Americans like to think of themselves as not racist and progressive, they are doing what's called in French "Masturbation Intellectuelle" (intellectual masturbation). Seeing something different is not necessarily bad. Islam is receiving a lot of bad media coverage and yes it is the FASTEST growing religion in the world, with its highest growth in Europe and America, there must be some reason why that's happening have you ever thought about it?? it can be just random can it?
