Raise the fuel tax but use the money to build a mass transit system based on rails. Railroads can transport a person several hundred miles on each gallon used.

Last summer when Gas hit a high of $4 a gallon -- if I had still worked 45 minutes away from where I lived - then I wouldn't have been able to work because I couldn't afford to get to work.
