Raise the fuel tax but use the money to build a mass transit system based on rails. Railroads can transport a person several hundred miles on each gallon used.

We have more oil reserves that are being blocked from extraction by the "wacko" enviros and their lib/dem/lefty buddies in congress than the rest of the world combined. Wow this might work if every city in America was designed to be able to walk to work. Last summer when Gas hit a high of $4 a gallon -- if I had still worked 45 minutes away from where I lived - then I wouldn't have been able to work because I couldn't afford to get to work.
