JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE: JPM) blew earnings away at $0.82 EPS vs $0.52 EPS. This is setting a very high mark for other financial firms to beat. Shares were up over 3% at $47.10 ahead of the closing bell.
Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: INTC) also rose on higher earnings and a higher outlook, but one could argue that the enthusiasm here was a disappointment. Shares were up 1.8% at $20.84 ahead of the close, but they were up as much as 7% after the report last night.
Active Power, Inc. (NASDAQ: ACPW) was a huge winner on news that it has received a second multi-million dollar order from one of the largest Internet search engine providers. Shares were up almost 32% at $1.20 ahead of the closing bell.
Lazard Ltd. (NYSE: LAZ) is going to be under a cloud after its shares are released from a halt. Unfortunately, its CEO Bruce Wasserstein has passed away according to media reports. Shares were up 4% at $42.77 ahead of the halt, but this stock was lower on Monday on word of his hospitalization.
