Do you tweet after sex?

Where do you tweet? When? More important, what's normal? Are you some kind of freak?

A recent Gadgetology study by Retrovo.com, a consumer electronics shopping site, seeks to ascertain where the line in the sand is in regards to social media use (and overuse). If you're 35 or younger, regular use of sites such as Twitter and Facebook is common (big shock, right?). It looks to Retrovo like a new addiction may be taking root.

Retrovo found that most people check Facebook and Twitter a couple times a day -- with 27% of the under-35 crowd doing so more than 10 times a day. Some even hit the services regularly when they're driving, on vacation ... and even after sex.

Maybe it was: "roommate just walked in lol. What would u do? #twethics #aftersexitweet." If this is you, you're not alone. 36% of the younger users go to Facebook or Twitter after sex, with men more likely than women to do so. Research in Motion's (NASDAQ: RIMM) Blackberry users are more discreet than Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) iPhone users when it comes to postcoital social media use.

Devices are at the root of all (or at least most) social media use, according to Retrovo. Smartphones and internet-enabled devices make it much easier to access these services, and availability breeds use. The study revealed that only 19% of people over age 35 use their phones as preferred ways to access social media. The younger group, on the other hand, has a 46% rate of device-based social media use.

Twitter generates more action than Facebook for users under age 35. Twenty-seven percent of Facebook users check it more than 10 times a day, according to the study, while 39% turn to Twitter at that daily rate.

So, does it rise to addiction, or is it merely convenience? It could be both, but you'll have to judge for yourself on the public timeline. Maybe this is why Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) and Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) were so eager to index Twitter data in their search engines.
