Buy WellPoint (NYSE: WLP) (Cramer's Take). Right now. That's what I thought the moment I saw Chris Christie's shocking triumph in my home state last night. It was a stunning referendum of the anti-jobs nature of health care and how the Democrats are now being tagged with job losses and a health care obsession that hurts hiring.
Not everyone has a seat as safe as Nancy Pelosi. Many have seats thought to be as safe as Corzine's. They have to be shaking today.
I think today is the day the health care obsession ends and people start focusing on what you should pay for an 11% grower with a terrific balance sheet and cash up the wazoo that just printed a fantastic quarter.
Today's the day you buy WellPoint. And any of the other health care companies that have been staggered by months of rhetoric.
Today is multiple expansion day for the sector -- that's the only way to look at what happened.
Chris Christie.
I can't believe it.

Great post, Russ. I live just up the road from Elkhart. Please consider this in our nation's future: Insurance companies still rule (what a nightmare), no laws to help keep premiums at the same rate for the people with pre-existing and chronic illness that others pay. No laws to keep premiums at an affordable level. Insurance companies finding any reason in the world to deny payment to everyone, since congress decided to pad their pockets with bribe money from insurance lobbyists. No public option, but the federal government tells you that you must have health insurance at whatever the high dealing private insurance companies say you must pay. If you do not get this private insurance plan, you are fined $3,500 on your tax returns. If I am laid-off and can barely afford to feed my family and pay my house payment, where am I going to get $700 a month to buy government mandated health coverage that they will not subsidize nor provide. I was all for single payer national health care, but all this has turned out to be is rob the middle class some more if they are not fortunate enough to have employer insurance, or qualify for medicare and medicaid. All this talk, in my opinion, was simply a ploy to empower the private insurance company thieves into taking away more of our money. Just look at the prescription plan for the elderly. That was put into private insurance hands. What a fiasco that has turned out to be.

So the thing with healthcare is this. We ALL pay for it one way or another. What needs to happen is reform of the system, but not with a government run program. The government will screw it up for sure. Don't believe me? Name a program they run that is not screwed up! Social Security? Medicare? Welfare? FEMA? Come on. Let's get real. The government needs to eliminate the laws that allow insurance companies to have a monopoly in states, increase competition, and restrict bogus malpractice suits. Then get out of the way let the market fix itself! Anything else is just another excuse to collect taxes they can mismanage.

Buy with what, yes it sends a big message, and that message is get us some jobs!!!! How the hell can we invest with no jobs!!!! Get the picture, get the Federal Government out of our lives, elect people with common sense and elect people regardless of their religious views, as you remember there is supposed to be a separtion of Church and State. Elect first timers, kickout every incumbent in the country. Make rules that Washington is only open for 4-5 months, the rest of the time our representatives will be in their districts and states listening to the voters, not being wined and dined by lobbyists. A very simple plan, and this alone should shrink our Federal Government by 60%, what a savings that would be, it would even save Social Security.

Our nation is under seige by the corporate and religious right. They know that the American people have no way to out wait or uot last the corporate slander and lies put forth. this is about wall street getting the money from the tax payers and then blaming the current administration for not fixing that which only wall street can truely fix.
They have convinced many Americans that the regulations are government interference, and doing nothing is government failure... please pull your heads out. America is asking for change, too bad ther party sheep are still caught up in the power game and not involved in actually getting our nation on track again. and those who claim the rule of law, don't even respect it enough to give the president his due in his term as they cried and whined about when folks said Bush was full of it.
sure buy stocks and get rich from the suffering and selling out of your own childrens futures and health. ask the military if the health and education of your children is important.

Corzine's loss is simply recognition that he is corrupt, incompetent and despite his years on Wall Street has no idea how to handle NJ's finances. NJ has the highest property taxes in the nation, top 5 in sale tax, worst business climate in the country, paid family leave, has a $ 150 billion underfunded liability for state employee benefits that the state cannot pay, etc. The business community was literally leaving the state in droves and taking their companies and jobs with them. This is the reason Corzine lost..and has nothing to do with Obama or healthcare.

I watch Jim Cramer's show religiously and I generally like him, but I don't like this aspect of him. A lot of people who are unemployed will die because they can't afford health insurance. I don't see how this is good for job creation, unless maybe he thinks that if more people die, their will be fewer people vying for jobs. Is that your rationale, Jim.
