Buy WellPoint (NYSE: WLP) (Cramer's Take). Right now. That's what I thought the moment I saw Chris Christie's shocking triumph in my home state last night. It was a stunning referendum of the anti-jobs nature of health care and how the Democrats are now being tagged with job losses and a health care obsession that hurts hiring.
Not everyone has a seat as safe as Nancy Pelosi. Many have seats thought to be as safe as Corzine's. They have to be shaking today.
I think today is the day the health care obsession ends and people start focusing on what you should pay for an 11% grower with a terrific balance sheet and cash up the wazoo that just printed a fantastic quarter.
Today's the day you buy WellPoint. And any of the other health care companies that have been staggered by months of rhetoric.
Today is multiple expansion day for the sector -- that's the only way to look at what happened.
Chris Christie.
I can't believe it.

If the dems think last night is bad just let them think that we're going to let them off on things we voted for in the Presidential election. Healthcare will help to create new jobs especially in small business. Get tough on immigration and stop kissing ass. We want what we were promised ...or you guys can pack your bags now.

The health care program is anti jobs? Maybe great for jobs with insurance companies who could hire even more administration and charge people more and CONTROL health care even more, but for small business's and the private sector it will kill jobs because health insurance will become even more expensive. Jim Cramer has the foresight of a horny teen in a ho factory.

Stunning Virginia is one of the purplist states in the union. this loss has little to do with Health Care and much more to do with the candidates. Cramer is probably on the Wellpoint payroll. Of course business is more important than the society as a whole. I say buy Wellpoint, its probably just as good as Cramer's recommmendation of Bear Sterns.

Obamacare and Pelosicare and Reedcare will destroy this country. Please write your elected officials and tell them you oppose this legislation being rammed down your throat. Keep America a capitalist country. Keep your rights to selecting your own health care.

@ Eric
America is not a capitalist country. Your corporate overlords have seen to it that the middle class is reduced to debt-ridden serfdom. If financial slavery is what you want for your grandchildren, just keep thinking that way.

I must disagree with Kramer in that these elections were not shocking. They were quite predictable. The rest of the article is pretty much dead on.

CORZINES LOSS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE HEALTH INDUSTRY.
MR CRAMER AS A NEW JERSEY RESIDENT KNOWS THAT CORZINE MADE MANY PROMISES AS A WALL ST WIZ.
HE WAS GOING TO GET THE STATES FINANCES IN ORDER, REDUCE THE HIGHEST IN THE COUNTRY PROPERTY TAXES THAT ARE BREAKING UP FAMILIES BECAUSE THEY ARE FORCED TO MOVE OUT OF THE STATE.
HIS 800 % TOLL INCREASE SCHEME, AND THE AUDACITY TO SUGGEST A SMALLER TOLL SCHEME JUST LAST WEEK.
THE CORRUPTION IS RAMPANT, THE PAY TO PLAY (KICK BACKS AND GRAFT) THAT IS THE NORM IN TRENTON, THE INCREASE IN SALES TAX, FEES ETC OVER HIS 4 FAILED YEARS, JUST TO NAME A FEW OF THE REASONS THAT THE MIDDLE CLASS SAID ADIOS.
NOT HEALTH CARE.
MR CRAMER IS WRONG ON THIS.
VERY WRONG

Cramer you are lost myfriend! I like you a lot but I am here to tell you if they do not get Healthcare passed then the Dem's are out for sure! I know big money wants healthcare not to pass but maybe you need to be in Elkhart Indiana like me and see what you think. Visit the poor and needy or visit the people making $13.00 hour with a family and tell them it is ok to pay $180.00 per week for health care. That is the reall majority.

Understand this. The middle class will pick up the bill for healthcare. The same people who try consistently throughout their lives to get ahead by going to college, working everyday, paying their bills, and paying for all the Obama bailouts. We should not have to pay for lazy, aimless, drug ridden, handout underbelly of our country to have the same healthcare as us. Simple as that. We have worked for it, and will have to pay more with worse care. If healthcare passes, the hospitals will be jammed full and look like a combination of a rap concert and wrestling crowd. My father worked all his life, retired with a pension and healthcare. It took him 6 months to get in for an operation on his spine. It would take 2 years if this bill had passed earlier. He earned it, shouldn't have to wait in line for others who did nothing but be lucky enough to be born in this country, and have done nothing to advance it, or themselves.

We don't have the luxury of waiting for the next presidential election 3 years away. Time is running out. The US Military should now take over the Gov't. from the incompetent Obama and corrupt Democratic congress. If not our country will be destroyed rapidly both economically and militarily by Obama and the democratic congress.

I am glad the public is finally waking up concerning the potential disaster of the ~2000 pages of the Health Care draft(s). It would have been much more productive for the economy and the public investor if Congress had reinstated the uptick rule, put limits on totally unregulated CDO, CDS,etc. trading, stopped computer driven Flash and rapid trading on preferential terms by hedgefunds and major WS firms. Instead they want to make sure they are still accomodating the lobbyists to make sure the campaign contributions keep coming. Remember that a key Obama financial advisor( Summers ) made ~ 5.2 million working for D.E. Shaw, a hedge fund. I am sure that when his gig with Obama is over, he will want to return to make more big bucks with the hedge funds.
I am reminded of an old French saying; :"Government always changes - but remains the same"!

The reason the balance sheets of these health insurers is so
"healthy" is because they deny care. If you get hurt at work--
workers comp,Injured in car acccident- call Geico. Disabled,
unemployed over 65 medicare,medicaid.
The insurance companies skim the cream off thetop and leave the rest of us to pick up the bill. Health care rationing?
Insurance companies have been doing it for years.
Health care, like the military should be non-profit As a practicingf physcian for the past 25 years I can assure you the only honet program available is medicare.
Solve the crisis make private insurance non profit. 40 percent of the money associated with health care goes to insurance company profits or "administration"("Claim denied.calim appealed, claim denied)
garbage.

Like Jim Cramer says, "the anti-jobs nature of health care" is an issue of concern. In the public sector, the current health reform proposals would establish a bureaucracy that would increase federal employment. However, in the private sector, the bills would put a burden on industry that would decrease the work force. I'm concerned that we should have a strong private sector. When all is said and done the federal government is paid for from the private sector.
